Anderson Cooper, Kathy Griffin New Years Eve 2011: Cooper Gets Kidnapped, Griffin Strips (VIDEO)

As promised, CNN's New Year's Eve special with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin proved just as entertaining as years past. Though Griffin didn't drop the f-bomb or try to undress Cooper on air, she did attempt to humiliate her co-host in other ways.

When the show came back from a commercial break, Griffin appeared on air just in her bra. "Are you kidding me? Are you serious?" Cooper said. Griffin proceeded to dance around in her bra, and professed that she had a crush on CNN pundit David Gergen.

Another highlight of the evening occurred after CNN ran a clip of the Green Goblin from the Broadway show "Spider-Man" "hijacking" the New Year's Eve show and kidnapping Cooper. Cooper failed to reason with the Green Goblin, and was eventually saved by Spider-Man. "They need you back in Times Square," Spider-Man told Cooper after saving him.

The clip came, well, out of nowhere, and Griffin could not contain her obvious bewilderment. "I'm giving you the slow clap," Griffin said after the clip finished. "[Like] at the end of every high school football movie where the guy with one leg comes out and gets a touch down. I don't even know...I'm trying to follow the story line. Have you been abducted by a goblin?"

She added, "If you think you're ever going to live this down-- and don't act like putting you arm around me makes this better."

I love Kathy and think she's funny as hell!! She's the type of person that either you like her or you don't. I love humor and laughter.....so Kathy's for me.

Dear CNN,
Please give us a 7-10 year break from seeing Kathy G. Even Anderson is getting a bit iffy...
I turned to other channels on the night of Dec. 31st as I'm sure the dame for many many many others... Who can stand Kathy?? She is pathetic and down right sad to watch.

AC is amazing but Kathy always acts wasted. She is not normal. She is so over the top and annoying. AC loses credibility with Kathy, she needs to wear a hat whivh says "look at me" because she begs for attention with her antics.

I respect Anderson Cooper, but I really don't care for Kathy Griffin's obnoxious brand of humor. I have no problem with scantily clad women - I just don't care for her rudeness.

I love AC. I detest Kathy Griffin, whose humor really isn't "humor" at all but just cruelty. She is inappropriate in her remarks and inappropriate in her behavior. Who was the mastermind putting these two together...the classy one versus the classless one?

I disagree with you on her humor being cruel. She's spent the last three New Year's spots hilariously trying to embarrass her good friend Anderson Cooper on live tv with jokes, fake trying to take his clothing off, catching him in word games, and now doing a Lady Gaga minimalistic costume. It's all about the unexpected and excellent chemistry between these two good but polar opposite friends -- the very liberated comedienne and the very proper and uptight wealthy socialite's son. It's pure comedy gold.

Too bad it isn't to your taste; you're really missing out.

it's a classic comedy formula that goes back hundreds of yrs.,& it works for me.It's absurd & over the top.It's suppose to be.Everybody who drank too much on N.Y.E. and acted absurdly & over the top raise your hand.That's what I thought.
