Lady Gaga New Year's Outfits Include Crystal Headpiece, Black Jumpsuit (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

In keeping with the theme of newness, Mayor Michael Bloomberg rang in the New Year doing something he's probably never done before: kissing a woman wearing a crystal mask/headdress.

The woman, of course, was the ever-sparkly Lady Gaga, all decked out in her New Year's best. The unlikely pair played host to hundreds of thousands of revelers in Times Square, where they led the final-minute countdown of the famous ball drop.

Although Mayor Boomberg's actual girlfriend, Diana Taylor, was in attendance, the mayor spent most of the night with Lady Gaga -- that is, when she wasn't in costume changes. The pop star wore three different outfits throughout the night, going with the classic New Year's palate of black, gold and silver.

With graying Bloomberg in his adorably lumpy American flag sweater, the two were quite a sight to see. Not only did they present the ball together, but they also danced and embraced at midnight with a kiss on the lips.

Surprised? With Lady Gaga, anything can happen.

This gal has just found a "gimmick" to sell herself with, and people are buying it. Her music is trite (like someone else posted) with the same disco beat to each song, with few lyrics that make sense.

creativity, really,, sorry but she copies and makes it her own.. Elton John and Liberace both wore elaborate outfits way before she came along.. see the thing is everything thats old is new to those who never saw it in the first place in the 60s and 70s..

Elton John almost went broke too and Lady Gaga was not very profitable last year either with all the expenses. Don't know about Liberace. When I see all these costume changes I think about people who really need stuff. I know she gives, but it's pretty astounding to keep seeing excesses in our country and elsewhere, when we have so much trouble in the world. Like the Sydney fireworks -- 6 million dollars spent, when 4 probably would have been more than enough.

After watching her on New Year's Eve and on her HBO special, I've come to the conclusion that Lady Gaga is the New Madonna. That is, all costumes and shock value and no real musical content to speak of. Unlike Madonna, I think she could do better if she had to but as always, the Marketplace rewards mediocrity...

Seems to me this woman can really sing -- better than Madonna. She can also perform. There is talent in that alone. If she couldn't, she would not be where she is today.

We can put Madonna down all we want to -- her quirky ways, as her response to fear of old age transforms her into another woman -- but Madonna is a remarkable lesson in initiative, determination, focus, innovation and success. She arrived in New York with approximately $30.00 (can't remember the exact amount -- that or less) on her own, not knowing anyone. From there she grew, and has sustained, her empire. That's what it take to join what the less inclined OWSers call the 1%.

Madonna has guts, a will and focus of steel. I expect Lady Gaga is the same. That has to be admired.
