Allman Brothers Announce Dates For 2012

The Allman Brothers Band will perform 10 shows beginning Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Beacon Theatre in New York City, the band announced on its website. Tickets for the shows go on sale Friday, January 6.

The Allman Brothers album "Eat A Peach" celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, prompting the band to christen 2012 "The Year of the Peach." In December, the Recording Academy announced that The Allman Brothers would receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at a ceremony on February 11th in Los Angeles. In 1995 the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The pioneers of Southern rock achieved artistic and commercial success with hits such as "Ramblin' Man," "Blue Sky," "Melissa" and "Jessica," the latter having earned them a 1995 GRAMMY for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
