Congress Theater Rape: Teens Questioned In Attack That Left Woman In Coma Released

Three teenaged persons of interest questioned in the New Year's Eve sexual assault that left an 18-year-old suburban Chicago woman in a coma outside a concert venue were released Sunday.

NBC Chicago reported that three teens were taken into custody Sunday and interviewed concerning the beating and sexual assault of a woman turned away from a concert at the Congress Theater in the 2100 block of North Milwaukee in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood Saturday night.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Highland Park, Ill. woman had been turned away from the New Year's Eve concert, featuring the British dubstep producer/DJ Rusko, because she did not have a photo ID with her.

A Congress Theater employee told the Sun-Times that, after being denied entry to the concert, she crossed Milwaukee Avenue and sat down in front of a taco restaurant. The employee shortly thereafter reportedly saw her walking with a group of six young men.

When the woman was found around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, she was unconscious, bleeding and partially clothed on a lawn located near the theater, in the 2100 block of North Rockwell, CBS Chicago reports.

Though the woman was initially listed in critical condition when she was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital, a police spokesperson told the Sun-Times Sunday afternoon that the woman "is going to be fine."

No charges have been filed in the assault. Anyone with information pertaining to the incident is urged to contact Chicago police at (312) 746-8252.
