Russell Brand, we presume, is very happy that the calendar has flipped past 2011. He didn't have a great year. His remake of the classic comedy film "Arthur" tanked with critics and moviegoers, and, as the world knows, he filed for divorce from wife Katy Perry last Friday.
The good news is that it's on to new, exciting adventures for Brand in 2012. He'll co-star in the upcoming big screen adaptation of the Broadway hit "Rock of Ages," and he's soon to be one of Britain's most eligible bachelors once again. But even as he looks forward to the future, it may hearten him a bit to look back on his humble beginnings in show business.
Back in 1994, Brand starred in the first season of the BBC Children's TV series "Mud." Altogether, he featured in six episodes of the show (thanks to the short seasons in the UK), and in this little clip, he's seen doing what he'd perfect in films like "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Get Him To The Greek": hooking up with a girl.
