How amazing that such a wise beautifully written story comes from such a fascinating young woman. As a grandmother with strong ties to my own family, parents and grandparents, I was deeply touched by the relationship of story telling and how important that is as we teach our children and our grandchildren about life. My own grandchildren are always asking me to share my stories with them, and they have favorites they ask to hear over and over. Ms. Obrecht has touched on a lovely human family tradition that is so valuable. I am very proud of her and her accomplishment and thank her for the joy of reading this lovely book. I wish her all the greatest success.

This very nice interview with Ms.Obreht has helped me to better understand the book. I'm nearly done with it and felt somewhat adrift or unsettled as to a general feeling of the story. I won't give anything away, but this cements and adds to what I was getting from the book.

She's a smart and talented woman (and reminds me of my granddaughter - only a year older!) and I'm looking forward to reading more of her novels. I'm going to pickup her short stories because when reading The Tiger's Wife I could see many short stories in it and could felt they were excellent unto themselves.

Is she talking about Tiger Woods or bestiality?
