Jersey Shore star Vinny Guadagnino took part in a New Year's tradition -- though it's likely not the one you'd assume.

On Jan. 1, the reality star and a crowd of other brave souls participated in Coney Island's Polar Bear Plunge. Guadagnino dipped into the frigid waters to raise money for Camp Sunshine, an organization that supports children with life threatening diseases and their families.

More than 1,200 people made the splash at Coney Island for charity on New Year's Day, the New York Post reported.

Guadagnino told the news outlet it was a positive experience.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so I wanted to do it.”

Right before the jumping into the water, Guadagnino tweeted, "Its Jan and Im about to jump into the ocean for the Polar Bear Plunge. Thanks for sponsoring me @coldeeze n raising $ for #campsunshinemaine!" Cold-EEZE cold medicine was the reality star's sponsor for the jump.

Watch as Guadagnino trades his winter hap for a swim cap, and he and the group take the plunge.

The "Jersey Shore" star wasn't the only one making the icy escapade for New Year's Day. From Chicago to Phoenix, "polar bear" do-gooders jumped into freezing water to raise money for charities all over.
