Colbert Rips Santorum, Huntsman, Defends Corn In Iowa Caucus Coverage (VIDEO)

WATCH: Colbert Rips Santorum, Huntsman & Defends Corn

Finally back after the long holiday break, Stephen Colbert returned to "The Colbert Report" Tuesday night to make his predictions for the Iowa Caucuses, or as he put it, "The Superbowl of old Midwestern people in a high school gym sitting in folding chairs."

With complete coverage of the then-future event via free highway webcams he found online, Colbert's biggest prediction for Tuesday night was that Jon Huntsman would lose. Not because he's the candidate with the least buzz, but because he recently dissed the state of Iowa, saying they "pick corn" whereas New Hampshire "picks Presidents."

Colbert himself was outraged at the dig, but not because he cares too much for Iowa. Instead, he came to the defense of corn, "America's natural calorie pellet," and even honored it with a special pledge of allegiance (the screenshot to the left should tell you this was the funniest part of the bit).

Like Jon Stewart, Colbert also took some time Tuesday night to acknowledge Rick Santorum's rise in the polls, although neither of them could have predicted how close he would actually come to winning. Unlike Stewart, however, Colbert made sure to share the alternative definition of "Santorum," as created by Dan Savage, with those who didn't already know it (although by the looks of today's Google trends, everybody knows by now).
