George Michael Hits Back At Right Wing Christian Group Who Prayed For His Death

George Michael has hit back at a right wing religious group who prayed for his death while he was suffering from pneumonia in an Austrian hospital in December.

The openly gay pop singer, who told reporters last month he nearly died during his battle with the illness, slammed Christians For a Moral America as ""c**ksucking bastards" on Twitter after hearing reports that a member of the group known only as Keith had alleged Michael was actually suffering from AIDS and deserved to die because of his sexuality.

Michael' then admits to having "downed a couple of glasses of vino," before wishing his followers a happy new year.

At the time, Keith wrote on Twitter: "Pray for George Michael's demise. He has chosen a satanic lifestyle and must meet an appropriate end," Then, in a second posting: "Apparently George Michael has AIDS. Figures since he's a homosexual and it goes with the territory. Another sodomite bites the dust?"

Christians For A Moral America members have yet to respond to Michael's proclamations, but recent tweets include an official endorsement of GOP candidate Rick Santorum. "We must continue to elect Christians to the White House. Mormons can't be trusted," Keith writes in an apparent dig at Republican candidates Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman, who are both of Mormon faith.

Michael, whose pop hits include "Faith" and "Father Figure," previously told the Associated Press that his hospitalization would make him more spiritual and appreciate of his life. "I have an amazing, amazing life and if I wasn't spiritual enough before the last four five weeks then I certainly am now," he said at the time. "I really, really, really, really, from the bottom of my heart, thank everybody who sent messages and everybody in that IC unit that made sure I'm still here today."
