Jon Stewart On Rick Santorum 'Surge': 'Get The F*ck Outta Here!' (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 01/04/12 09:08 AM ET Updated: 01/04/12 07:18 PM ET

Jon Stewart Rick Santorum

We'll have to wait until Wednesday night to hear Jon Stewart's take on the Iowa Caucus results, but he returned to "The Daily Show" nonetheless Tuesday night after holiday break and picked up right where it left off: Indecision 2012.

When the show last aired in December, Newt GIngrich was the current GOP frontrunner and seemed like the last presidential "flavor of the week" the party would be trying before the Caucuses in Iowa. So imagine Stewart's surprise when he returned to learn that not only had Gingrich fallen out of favor, but that the GOP was trying one more candidate out for size (that is, before inevitably going back to boring, old Mitt Romney) and the lucky guy is Rick Santorum.

"Get the f*ck outta here!" Stewart said in disbelief before launching into one of his funniest analogies of the GOP primary race so far -- using only a box of Whitman's chocolates.

The chocolates, or, "White Man's Sampler" as Stewart called it, represent this election's crop of candidates. The GOP has been eager to try every single chocolate in the box, even though Stewart knows they'll eventually end up with Romney, that plain chocolate messenger boy everyone saves for last. And Santorum? He's the cherry cordial. You know, the one you try even though you know it's bad -- not to mention it ends up getting goo all over your other chocolates (by the way, don't Google "Santorum").

Watch the full segment above to hear the full analogy, including a new explanation for how Romney has managed to remain so unlikable despite being one of the least controversial candidates out there. Click here to see his other segment about Mitt Romney.

Reality Check: The story behind the Ron Paul newsletters

What that article says: "Ron Paul has dis-avowed the letters, says he didn't write them, but also says he accepts responsibility because he should have known, since they were published under his name."

The words that came out of Ron Paul's mouth: "It’s been going on 20 years that people have pestered me about this and CNN does it every single time. So when are you going to wear yourself out?"

Clearly, my own definition of "accepts responsibility" is different from Fox's.

At the end of the day, when all is said and done, Americans won't be deciding who becomes President anyway, the 1% do that for you. If you don't believe me, look at the choices you have....none.

I like the cherry chocolate! Anyway...Ron Paul finished third in an insanely close race. Don't forget that. Romney only won by 8% over Poopfoam...I mean Santorum. Paul was only a few hundred behind. The fight is still on!

8 votes not %. Ron Paul is a 76 year old Anarchist. A tin foil hatted conspiracynut.

he's really running for VP

seems nice but how much can you feel for the middle
class when inheriting roughly a few billion dollars ?
GOP moderates always turn out to be worse than
hoped, so has Obama. But I'll still help him this
time....although Hillary would have won bigger
and this time too.

Maybe to get some national exposure to help run for President in the future.,

I would like to see Obama/Hillary in 2012 and Hillary/Warren in 2016

Jon Huntsman is likely the orange filled chocolate. That is a nice smiling chocolate that might even have some sunshine in its flavoring.

Nah, he has to go to the far right just to have a chance at the nomination.

I think hes slightly left of center in his compassion and lightly right of median in his diligence. I think he can win if this goes the way I theorize is possible. Wait and see!

Jon Huntsman has proven himself to be a total hack.

Describe "total hack". I am sure that when you consider that 80% of the Utah citizens voted him in office and his state was voted best run state during his office, it can not be too bad. Considering I have heard no negative press on his campaign in any light and that his appeal is to bother conservatives as well as liberal minded Americans, I'd say he is the 'hack' that can Hack it.

Way to go, John! Santorum Surge = only guy left that didn't rise to the top for a few days in time to draw fire & get shot down in flames. Only choice left for the evangelicals to get their voices heard by the big boys in control of the Party. Not that it will matter much in the end, which may come sooner than later.

get ready for a frkn hilarious season folks .. Romney is the kid who wants to get picked to play on the kickball team; he has been practicing, buying new shoes and booking the playground so he can practice by himself, and then just when he thinks hes going to get picked to play the kid who has been picking his nose and climbing the jungle gyms gets picked up and Romney goes off crying to his mommy ... MOMMY they Didn't pick me AGAIN !!!!

Yes and you are correct! Thanks for setting me straight.

The reality is that all of those former liberals that have joined the Tea Party and their constant laments regarding how they have been used like fools **is not representive** of those that still support the:

"Only government knows best for you and me"

theme that so many lefties have been fooled by.

Thanks much for setting me straight Margo!

While I think it safe to say that the Progressive Persecution Posse is destined to a footnote in an eigth grade textbook, the people that made posse what it was are still of national concern. Many are still there, acting clueless and disoriented.

The good news, Margo, is that the rudiments of introspection have been detected in even the most insular of the progressive mindset! Let's you and I help these people.

Very best - Buck
