'Storage Wars': Dave Hester Scores Huge Lot Of Books For A Steal (VIDEO)

First Posted: 01/04/12 02:39 AM ET Updated: 01/04/12 11:52 AM ET

Dave Hester scored a rather unique haul on "Storage Wars" (Tue., 10 p.m. EST on A&E). The locker he bought turned out to be packed wall-to-wall and front-to-back with boxes upon boxes of books. After paying $900 for the locker, he was feeling pretty good about what he uncovered.

The books appeared to be in great shape, so he estimated that if he could sell them for an average of $1.00 per book, he'd rake in approximately $15,000. That would give him a lot of leeway to haggle the price down and still come out way ahead.

If he really wanted to dig into the collection, it's possible he might find some rare first printings or older hard-to-find books in the midst of it as well. Those alone could quickly push him past his spending cost for the locker. And maybe he'll even find a good read while waiting to find out how much the whole lot's going to fetch him.

Catch all the wheeling and dealing on "Storage Wars" every Tuesday at 10 p.m. EST on A&E

I love this show but I HATE how they price stuff out at the end. They pull out some dusty pipe and say, oh, I'll sell this for $25 and the $25 pops up as "profit" in the corner of the screen. But they might not ever sell it for even 1/2 that, if they ever sell it at all. Even if Dave averaged $1 per book he might get lucky to sell all those books in under 10 years. That's why I think a lot of people like Pawn Stars b/c if they say an item is worth $100 they pull out cash and pay that much for it.

It'll take Dave 5 years to sell half those books !

I love this show. I'm actually learning about collectibles and other strange things they find. One never knows if they'll come across a garage sale with some of the valuable stuff.

I don't think Hester cares if anyone likes him as long as he's making money. I'd hate to have him living next door!

I do not like Dave Hester, he is nothing but an A ########## trying to drive up prices on what the poorer folks buy.

It's a reality show. They are speaking from a script. It's all scripted, even what they "find."
Proof: If you've watched the show, how many times have you seen someone cough, sneeze, blow their nose?

..they plant stuff in these lockers to make the show "interesting" and dramatic if you can even call it that. I can't stand those big mouth imbeciles....the show..all of the "storage wars" ones are so fake they're pathetic...almost as ridiculous as the "repo man" garbage and the "judge" shows...reality?????!!!....uh huh....

I don't think they plant stuff b/c if you watch like 5 episodes straight only 1 or 2 items that are "interesting" may pop up, it's mostly junk. They only thing I don't like about the show that IS fake is how they "price" stuff out at the end of the show. I'm like that dusty old pipe is not worth $25....

These shows are a put on, you can buy a hundred lockers before you find something that the pawn shops might give you ten cents on the dollar for.

He may have found a lot of books, but that doesn't mean they'll sell. Second hand stores are full of them, and they don't move! I tried to unload a bunch of books, and they weren't all wanted. Even science textbooks!

I stick to Craigslist since there are many good bargains. Storage Wars rarely make very big money.

And in 50 years he may sell $100 worth of them. I would buy nothing from these guys. They inflate the value of things by 1000 percent. Books are hard to get rid of. so if I wanted to get rid of them instead of taking them to the dump I would pay one month

Am I the only one who can't stand this man and his constant gloating over the fact that he has more money than the other's on the show. He makes it really hard to watch the show.

Almost as valuable as finding 15,000 VHS videos or 15,000 8-track tapes. Way to go Dave.

I used to watch the show all the time, but the novelty is wearing off. Not only am I starting to think it is all staged, but even if it isn't, we are getting entertainment from someone's misfortune.
