Dear Rooney Mara: Fix Your 'Blah' Style By Copying Kristen Stewart (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 01/05/2012 11:32 am Updated: 01/05/2012 11:34 am

Dear Rooney Mara,

As you've been making press rounds to promote your new movie, "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo," we've been tracking your style, and honestly, we've been a little... non-plussed by it.

But today was the final straw: you hit up a photocall in Berlin wearing what looks like a gray sports bra, a knee-length black skirt and a headband.

We have to say something.

Some of your dresses are just kind of mousy, like the monochromatic Givenchy cut-out gowns you seem to like. Others look like, well, trash bags designed by Ozzy Osbourne.

Even Daniel Craig has more interesting style than you, sometimes. (Although to be fair, we never pass up a chance to stare at Daniel Craig.)

We get that the whole "Dragon Tattoo" thing calls for a stark Scandinavian aesthetic to go with your mod pixie cut. Obviously, we don't think you should be slipping into some Betsey Johnson ruffles or, like, Versace for H&M.

But Rooney, we think you can keep your style cold and "Swedish" while still being an interesting dresser. Take a page from Kristen Stewart, who successfully merges vampire-bride edginess with couture that's fun to view on the red carpet.

You actually used to look like Kristen when you had long hair -- and we think you can make this work for you.

Kristen wears all of your favorite colors -- black, tan, gray -- but with a hint of drama and elegance that keeps the gothic verve while adding a dose of sex appeal.

Maybe some McQueen, like Kristen wore in Vogue Italia, or a frock like her glittery navy J. Mendel from the "Breaking Dawn" premiere. A little lace or a thigh-high slit can go a long sartorial way.

You're gorgeous, Rooney, and we love your mod look. Here's one way we think you could nail it even better.

Just our two cents.

Check out Rooney's looks from the "Dragon Tattoo" press rounds below, and also, some K. Stew dresses we think Rooney could look seriously glam in.

I'm glad most readers hate this most as much as I do. I really like Rooney Mara and her style choices. I think her look is elegant, classic and clean. She doesn't believe in over the top outfits and jewelry. There is nothing wrong with being on the simplistic side. She's beautiful.

Or...article. Anyway, I think I made my point. Good day :)

You're kidding, right? Rooney Mara is a goth Audrey Hepburn and that is amazing. Her unique look is fascinating to see in pictures. I hope she doesn't change her style in response to pieces like this which apparently goads actresses into being cookie cutter girly girls in tiny shiny dresses than fierce epically chic women.

Don't let the smooth taste fool you.

Who is this "we" you are speaking as? I certainly didn't agree to this diatribe. How funny that the links you use for examples of her "blah" style, say she "wows" the red carpet. I for one, think her style is fierce and edgy. And, why in the world should a woman in her 30's copy one in her 20's (or anyone for that matter). She's her own woman and her fashion choices reflect that. Go read some more US magazines, obviously you're trying to write for them.

Kristen Steward sucks. Seriously. Rooney has FAR surpassed Kristen's acting skills in TGWTDT. Look at all she had to go through to play Salander. Seriously. Kristen ruined the Twilight series for me. The books were amazing, the movies were not, and I blame her portrayal of Bella. Plain and simple. Kristen Steward has one face and that is a gritted teeth scowl. Rooney is amazing, holy cow. AND she's a huge advocate on charity over in Africa. She's actually a REAL person. Let's see you try to work Rooney's hairstyle into some Kristen Stewart knockoff and let us all know how that turns out. Barf. Rock on Rooney, LOVE your style!

Absolutely agree!

Rooney Maru sucks. Seriously. Kristen has FAR surpassed Rooney's acting skills in WTTR. Look at all she had to go through to play Mallory. Seriously. SERIOUSLY! Rooney ruined A Nightmare on Elm Street for me. The original was amazing, this one was not, and I blame her portrayal of Nancy. Rooney Maru has one face that is a gritted teeth scowl. Kristen is amazing, holy cow. AND she's a huge advocate of rape awareness, JDRF, and charity for damaged homeless teens. She's actually a REAL person. Let's see you try to work Kristen's 'Joan Jett mullet' hairstyle into some Rooney Mara knockoff and let us all know how that turns out. Barf. Rock on Kristen, LOVE your style! SERIOUSLY GUYS!!!! Did I mention I was serious?

See, I can sound like an uneducated simpleton too. Why are you talking a bunch of BS that has NOTHING to do with the article anyway? SERIOUSLY.

Having clicked on your link, I see you're a Kristen Steward follower.

All I have to say is:

I'm sorry.

That you're a KS fan, not for what I said. Nice satire though. As a female with a Bachelor's degree and a Master's, I'm quite an uneducated simpleton. Shall I email you my thesis?

Her style obviously reflects a different perspective than the idiotic one dimensional writer of this post. He look is classy, modern and clean without a hint of "please look at me and approve." She seems like a real person with taste of her own and I guess that is just too much for some people.

Suggesting that Rooney Mara should start copying Kristen Stewart is laughable. I have never been so impressed with a celebrity's style as I am will Rooney Mara's. She is truly an inspirational dresser. Her looks are modern and chic and she's proven that she can wear any designer from Valentino to Micheal Kors to Rodarte and look perfect in every single one of them.

I meant Givenchy, not Valentino, oops. But if she wore Valentino it would be awesome still.

Whatever hate you spit is okay because with her performance in TGWTDT, Rooney Mara will forever remain more important than you'll ever be.

Are you trolling here, Jessica? Rooney looks fantastic, whoever her stylist is is doing an amazing job. Amazing cannot be emphasized enough. It was refreshing to see an actress that looked like she actually deserved to be in Vogue in those photoshoots.

i'm a fan of kristen but i don't think she is copying her

Why in the world would ANYONE want to copy Kirsten Stewart? Rooney has her own choices and i LOVE the black dress she wears. she reminds me a bit of Audrey Hepburn. Rooney is in a different stratosphere - she has a certain... oh, "je nais se quois" that neither Stewart or commentator Jessica Misener have. In other words, class.

Rooney looked amazingly good in all of these photos, particularly the Paris premiere.

Why would Rooney Mara want to copy a 12-year old boy?
