is located in Turin, New York, about 120 miles northwest from the capital, Albany. Snow Ridge Ski Resort attracts many guests because of the great amount of snow (it boasts "The East's Heaviest Snowfall") and good skiing conditions. The average ski season at Snow Ridge Ski Resort begins on the Thanksgiving holiday and lasts through the first of April.

The Mountain

With an average of
annually, Snow Ridge Ski Resort lives up to its title of having the heaviest snowfall in the East. The record snowfall for the resort is 374 inches in one year. The resort has an elevation of 2,000 feet with a vertical drop of 500 feet. The ski area has a variety of long and short runs across 130 acres of skiable area. In addition to the lake-effect snow, Snow Ridge Ski Resort also has a 50 percent snowmaking capability.

Trails And Lifts

Snow Ridge Ski Resort has
-- three of them for beginners, 13 for advanced skiers and the remainder falling in between. Guests can access the trails by four double chair lifts, one T-bar and one bunny tow. The resort has five lighted trails for nighttime skiing: three for beginners and one each for intermediate and advanced. The resort also offers guests a terrain park so they can hone their freestyle skills between runs.

Snow Ridge Ski Resort boasts a certified
. Their program is certified by the Professional Ski Instructors of America and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors. One of the most comprehensive ski schools in the area, Snow Ridge Ski Resort has classes and lessons for skiers and snowboarders of all ages beginning at 3 years old. Prices start at $20. The resort also sponsors the Snowmobile Hill Climb and a Big Air Contest. To top it off, in 2010 a member of the Snow Ridge Ski Club won the NYSPHSAA Section 3 Girls Alpine Combine Race.

Cost

An all-area weekend
is priced at $32 for four hours and $37 for seven hours. Children between the ages of 7 and 12 can ski for seven hours on weekends for $32 and children ages 6 and younger can ski for seven hours for $10. Weekday rates start at $10 for children and go up to $18 for adults. Three-day passes run between $45 and $101, and five-day passes run between $75 and $160. Adult season passes start at $407. Military personnel get discounted rates. Ski rentals range between $16 and $18 for a complete package.

Apres-Ski

After a day of skiing or snowboarding, guests can have a meal at the Candlelight Restaurant. The restaurant offers a variety of American dishes, but has limited hours. The bar is open on Wednesdays.
