'Bridesmaids' Sequel & Maya Rudolph's Street Poop Scene: Paul Feig Dishes Dirt

Director Talks 'Bridesmaids' Sequel, Maya Rudolph's Grossest Scene

So what's the deal with the "Bridesmaids" sequel?

Earlier this week, it was reported that Kristen Wiig was unwilling to write or star in a followup to the smash hit comedy, instead opting to star in small films such as "Imogene" and "The Comedian." Universal, it was alleged, was thinking of doing a sequel without her. To confuse things even more, director Paul Feig, in a new interview with Vanity Fair, says everyone is on board -- maybe.

"Everyone is up for it, and yet it's hard to say," Feig said. "Everyone's very busy right now is one of the problems, and kind of doing their own thing, but we're very open to it. My only stipulation is I just want to make sure it's as good or better than the first one. You definitely don't want people to be like, 'Oh, shoot, I wish they didn't make that."

Feig made similar comments in August, when he told Movieline, "It's not officially been moved toward, but I'd be very open to it," he told Movieline. "It would just have to be as good or better than this one. What you don't want to do is the one that ruins the memory of the first one. But nothing would make me happier if we could make another one with this amazing cast, and people go, 'That's awesome!'"

Then again, in September, co-star Jon Hamm said that it didn't seem in the cards for Wiig.

"I don't think Kristen is going to do it," he told E! Online.

Sequel or not, we still have the first film fresh in our minds, and Feig illuminated on one of the flick's dirtiest scenes: Maya Rudolph's gastronomic explosion in the street.

"We all brainstormed on that, then Judd [Apatow] got really hung up on the idea that she's running across the street and has such a violent expulsion that it knocks her off her feet, and that's what you see in the trailer," he revealed. "So we had that, but when we were all kicking it around the room, and I remember Annie Mumolo going, 'Or another way that she could do it' -- and she acted that out, where you just see her slowly sink down. The first time we put that up in front of a real audience, hearing women kind of screaming with laughter, and she just sank down--that's one of those moments where you get chills, and you're like, Wow. We kinda nailed it."
