Emmy Rossum Looks Straight Out Of The 1920s In Silver Ralph Lauren Dress (PHOTOS, POLL)

Sometimes we have a hard time trying to pull off the vintage look without looking costume-y. Our phase of trying to wear '50s-style saddle shoes comes to mind. (Never again!)

But Emmy Rossum is obviously much better than us at acing the retro vibe, because she looked downright gorgeous in this silver vintage-style Ralph Lauren gown, a Ralph Lauren clutch and Jesilla sandals at last night's reception for Showtime's "Shameless" in Los Angeles.

Even with her hair pulled into flapper-style waves, Emmy still looks elegant and not like she's starring in a "Great Gatsby" remake. How does she do it?

Emmy's apparently having fun filming "Shameless" -- she says she doesn't even mind the gratuitous sex scenes. We hope this means we'll be seeing here out more on the red carpet, mastering style six ways to Sunday.

Looks more Marilyn Monroe than Theda Bara to me, the interns do seem to have gone a little wild in the style section today. The flapper look was all about a boyish figure, flat chested and slim waisted, she's neither. it was a rebellion against the corsets and bustles of only a decade or so before.

She looks great.

I would have liked a back view of the dress. I so rarely get a proper shot of the clothing it self. I know it's improtant fot the stars to get publicity milage, but sometimes I just want to see the clothes. More up close detail of the dress it self would have been nice also.

It does look nice on her and modern at the same time. I like it. Not overdone.
