WATCH: Maria Canals Barrera SaysTo Wizards Of Waverly Place

Maria Canals Barrera, the Cuban-American actress best know for her role as Selena Gomez's mother, Theresa Russo, in the hit TV show, Wizards of Waverly Place, shares some 'girl talk' in this episode of LaFusion, reminiscing about the great run with the show, and her future plans.

"It was a tremendous blessing. I just can't believe that it happened," she says about being part of the show, which started in 2007 and instantly became a hit for Disney, propelling Selena Gomez to stardom.

Tonight is the series finale, and while Canals Barrera attributes the show's success to the camaraderie among the actors, saying "chemistry is something people say you can't manufacture, we felt it instantly," she also recognized that "it's just a family show; a funny, well-written family show is what it is."

And what's next for the actress?

Following a role in last summer's "Larry Crowne", with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts', Canals Barrera is looking forward to playing a variety of roles.

"Comedy and drama, I love both. Comedy is natural to me, I think it's because I grew up with a funny family and becasue it's the way you cope with the pain," she says laughing.

"I would like to do something, where I can basically have it all. Be with my kids and husband as much as possible and get to be an actress too."
