WATCH: Matt Lauer Celebrates A Big Day

Matt Lauer celebrated his fifteenth anniversary as the co-host of "Today" on Friday morning.

The morning show paid tribute to the milestone by replaying the opening of Lauer's first day on January 6, 1997. Lauer said that he was excited and nervous, and jokingly told co-host Katie Couric to "remind him to breathe" throughout the show. He was also sporting a noticeably fuller head of hair. Watch the segment in the clip above.

The celebration comes as rumors continue to swirl about Lauer's future on "Today." His contract expires at the end of 2012, and it is not entirely clear that he will stay on the show. He is now two months shy of becoming the show's longest-serving co-host, a title currently held by Couric.

"Today" also posted 15 of its favorite Matt Lauer moments online.
