I love this show, I love the fact that they delve into irritating characters and expose them in a realistic and comical way. Lorne Micheals must have his face plastered with successful people seeing as SNL died years ago.

I don't keep track of SNL's ratings, but it never died.  Sure it's had seasons where it wasn't that funny, but there are plenty of people that watch it every week.

Do you know another show that could fill that horrible time slot, and have the world showing clips of it the next week?

Lorne Micheals doesn't usually allow too many clips to be shown on youtube, etc. Hard to find. I can't remember the last time I watched it. Probably the Phil Hartman years. In any case, Portlandia is fresh and current.

I watched the marathon last weekend, could only take about three episodes. It's the kind of smug, self-satisfied "hipster" humor that says to the world, "I'm better than you because I'm in on the joke and you aren't." Which I find annoying. Sleater-Kinney rules though.

Just in case you didn't know, Carrie Brownstein was an INCREDIBLE guitarist in the band Sleater-Kinney. Check them out- it could send you on a big musical tangent, you'll thank me later. Her new band Wild Flag is excellent as well.

I didn't know Fred Armisen had any funny in him.

He's hilarious in it.

The HuffPo title said: "LOOK: 'Portlandia' Pals Celebrates Season Premiere". It seems like even the simplest rules of grammar are beyond your editors. "Celebrate", without the s. Geez.

Saw the pilot. One joke repeated endlessly. OK, I get Portland is the final receptacle for boho super-lib dropout types. After 10 minutes I was glassing over. Much like I would if I actually WENT there.
