Archie Comics Wedding: First Gay Wedding In The Series Hits Comic Book Stores

This week, Archie Comics released its first-ever issue featuring a same-sex wedding.

Life With Archie #16 -- which features gay character Kevin Keller's deployment to Iraq and nuptials to partner Clay Walker -- was released on Wednesday, after months of anticipation from comic book fans and same-sex marriage advocates alike.

In the issue, Kevin decides to follow in his father's footsteps and join the military -- but becomes injured while serving in Iraq. While recovering at the hospital's rehabilitation unit, Kevin meets an African-American doctor -- and the two eventually fall in love. The couple's happy wedding day is featured on cover of Life With Archie #16.

The Life With Archie series follows the lives of Riverdale High School students in their 20's. Kevin, the series' first gay character, was introduced to the Riverdale group in April 2010 -- to "reflect what's going on with kids today in the real world," said Archie Comics CEO Jonathan Goldwater to CNN last month.

It seems people are making their arguments or line of reasoning to compare same sex relationships with gender differences or interracial relations; or to condemn this practice using that which people traditionally hold to...it is interesting to note that no matter what reasoning people use, we can't ignore what the Bible clearly and plainly says, no matter what translation we use: that homosexuality is condemned in the Bible. It is wrong to harm another no matter their preferences, but the Bible speaks on this matter with frankness.

Romans 1:24-27, and 1 Timothy 1:9-11 compared with Leviticus 20:13 is one example...there's also 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 which helps us see the need to make sure of what God approves of in all things. There are many scriptual examples.

Also, the first human pair were made male and female, and were to enjoy each other, and fill the earth.

So, though not all are religiously inclined, in discussing this subject, it is still interesting that the Bible itself speaks on this matter, inspired by Almighty God for our benefit.

granted gay marriage is good and so are comic book's but two of the biggest comic book company's marvel and dc comics don't have what the archie comic book's have being open about homo sexuality and even bi sexuality is a given in society i wish more and more comic book company's would have gay comic book hero's two of my faves are mid nighter and apollo bye

healthy family values?? what is that? i work with christian heterosexual families...and they are more F'd than any gay family i have counseled. the abuse, hypocrisy, disfunction, so maybe their marriage should't be publically celebrated either. and no public displays of affection or have them arrested etc.

Those were done 30 years ago in coordination with an artist who was one step removed from Jack Chick. They don't CURRENTLY publish those books and their current management is concerned with presenting Archie as a progressive role model for kids.
