Darwin, Australia: Crocodile Makes Surprise Visit To Family's Home

First Posted: 01/08/2012 1:37 am Updated: 02/09/2012 1:06 pm

CANBERRA, Australia (Associated Press) -- Wildlife rangers have helped an Australian family deal with an uninvited guest: a 5-foot-6-inch (1.7-meter) crocodile that wandered into their living room.

The juvenile saltwater crocodile wandered into a home in Bees Creek, a suburb of the northern Australian city of Darwin. Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported that the family found it in a partially enclosed living area Saturday morning after their dog's barking woke them.

Resident Jo Dodd describes the encounter as "a very surreal moment" and "the most freakiest thing." She suspects the croc might have been stalking the dog.

Crocodile management official Dani Best told ABC the croc might have been forced out of a nearby creek by a larger croc. The intruder has been relocated to a crocodile farm.

Are they sure about this news, that the crocodile didn't find the humans in his living room seeing that the crocodiles were there first.

In a related story, tourists were surprised to see kangaroos while touring the outback.

LOL, I was in Australia, the only place I saw kangaross and koalas was at the zoo.
01:34 PM on 01/21/2012
How much of Australia were you in? Can you say concisely that you have empirically proved the absence of wild kangaroos and koala's in Australian lands? By what scale can we measure your powers of perception, that you could indeed detect the presence of a kangaroo or koala if you were exposed to one? If this claim is indeed true, it should be documented and made known to the masses... who may currently be stereotyping the country of Australia as a kangaroo and koala populated region.

I used to come home and find my mother-in-law on the couch all the time. I called the authorities, but they did nothing. And let me tell you, she was frightening and ugly. Still is. Does an ex mother-in-law become an out-law?

people should keep their doors and doggie doors locked..especially if they live in areas thathave water around like lakes and rivers
12:04 PM on 01/09/2012
The article stated it was a partially enclosed living room area. I guess they have an exterior sun room that doesn't have a door or doggie door.
