Tim Tebow Inspires CBS Crew's Tebowing With Broncos Overtime Win Over Steelers (VIDEO)

First Posted: 01/08/12 09:11 PM ET Updated: 01/09/12 07:53 AM ET

Just a week ago, it seemed the Tim Tebow craze was perhaps dying down, but after this overtime playoff win over Pittsburgh you can rest assured it's going to be bigger than ever.

Following the Broncos' improbable victory over the Steelers, the members of the CBS studio crew didn't go into specifics in describing the team's chances against the Patriots next weekend. Instead, they chose something far more powerful than words to express themselves: They Tebow'd.

Based on the quarterback's memorable day on Sunday and the excitement leading up to his rematch against the No. 1 seed Patriots, like it or not, you can expect to see plenty more of this verb in the coming week.

I like Tim Tebow. Now I see CBS is trying to sign him as an analyst during the remainder of the playoffs. Nice move. Actually, Fox tried to get him first, but realized there wasn't enough room in the studio with Terry Bradshaw's big head.

Tebow can get down on one knee, do back flips or dance the funky chicken, as long as its not on the field.

Despite the media attention, it is quite perplexing just how worldwide the phenomenon of dropping to a knee and praying for the Lord's help with trivial hurdles in our life has become.

I belive the practice as Tebow does it is to give thanks for what he was able to do. I agree, giving thanks for anything, to anything or anyone has gone by the wayside. "Thank you" are two lost words in American society today. Ahhh the age of entitlement.

It's actually rather cool to see a nice young, somewhat sexually "iffy", overly religious jock type do well. At least he's not trying to become the head of focus on a family or something. Yet......

Seriously was there anything else they could have done. I mean what an awesome finish. Somehow I bet Elway went home kicking and screaming.

Shame on CBS Commentators for making fun of Tim Tebow. If they were really 'inspired' as the headline leads one to believe, then there would not have been so much laughter and guffawing after they bowed their heads! SHAME ON CBS! CBS and its commentators need to make a public apology.

Tebow is rapidly becoming the Anna Nichol-Smith of football. Don't believe me? Just count the number of threads on the HP Football page dedicated to him.

Oh, and can they cram any more commentators on this show? 6 doesn't seem to be enough - how 'bout 8 or 10, I think Bill Parcells is still looking for a job.

This is exactly why CBS' NFL show is the worst on tv. Constantly trying to find ways to over-the-top Fox's NFL Sunday - and the non-stop forced laughter (I'm talking about you Boomer Isiasan and Shannon Sharpe) is annoying beyond description. To see Bill Cowher reduced to a second rate stand-up comic has been painful to watch.

Oh the self-righteous are out in force. Okay, so according to many of you, God, a powerful and all encompassing being who is, has been, and will always be, who has created everything in not only the known universe but the unknown universe, who watches daily as genocide happens in Darfur, as the Holocaust happened seventy years ago, as Tsunami ravaged East Asia and Japan, as terrorists fly planes into buildings, as thousand upon thousands of horrific things have taken place to believers, non-believers, and those still too young to understand belief throughout human history--and the one thing that this God has decided to intervene in is football games taking place in one country, and in one city in the whole world. I'll tell you, if that's true, your God needs to really reevaluate his priorities because his attitude is no better than your average football fan.

and YOU self-righteous mor-onz keep missing the point.
God never promoted himself YOUR wish granter!.....Tebow never says "God did this", or "God is working thru him"...He thanks his God, and acknowleges how his faith help HIM thru life. That's all!....the rest YOU and the religion haters have fabricated because you think this is some unique approach to Tebow, and that it will somehow validate your hatered for a kid playing a sport.

You are required to take care of "you"...Maybe its YOUR priorities 9or silly expectations) are what's "out of whack"....??

While I understand your statement, I don't think you quite understand the role of religion or one's beliefs or the reasons (according to the Christian faith) why we've been put on this earth. I will not get sucked into a religious discussion, but, you really have trivialized something - whether you or I like it or not - that a lot of people believe in.

It's his bantering his (offensive) religion flagrantly to the rest of the world, which is actually contradictory to his own Old and New Testaments, and for a reason. Tim Tebow's Born Again nonsense says I am going to hell. And so on. His "faith" isn't benevolent, it's wrapped in a lot of evil. And yes, I study the history of Christianity and the Bible as a scholar (reason, facts, history, language. There is more than one Christianity. (There is more than one story and belief behind even using the term, "Christ", vs. his name, Jesus. He is not Christ to me, he is Jesus. He said so himself.
02:14 PM on 01/09/2012
While I'm sure that God is unconcerned about the outcome of a pass or football game, I feel that the mockery provided by the commentators is really offensive. Had Tebow been Muslim or any other religion, the reaction would be IMUS-esque, with great ripping of clothes, piling ashes on one's head, wearing sackcloth and screaming for CBS to fire them and apologize. Talk about a double standard!!!

Well, he is irreverent and yet, he has his own show; gazillions of people watch and laugh. He is not known for being respectful. However, having said that, the things that Limbaugh has said about the president, make Maher look like a choirboy. He is a racist scuzz.

I think these commentators are making fun of it, myself. Can you imagine if after a Catholic made the sign of the cross during a game, as Alex Pujols does, that they would make the sign of a cross?

I see them doing this, not based on religious reasons, but because it's trendy. Actually genuflecting as a sign of reverence to the Crucifix and altar has been around for centuries.

Just saying...
