FEMA, collecting under a law that went into effect during a Democratic Administration. And I thought the Democrats cared for the poor and disabled.

I have an idea, lets make the banks pay back every cent they cost us and everyone else involved.

It just amazing that FEMA will kick these people while they are down while regulations make it legal.

FEMA gave them over 100,000 dollars. They are having him repay a 3,000-dollar debt he incurred while staying in their emergency housing well beyond when they asked him to leave.

So apparently your view of "FEMA kicking them while they are down" means FEMA should *actually* owe them 103,000+ dollars. Why do we owe this guy over a hundred thousand dollars due to bad weather, and why should he be subsequently exempt from the rules because of it? Many other hurricane victims were able to follow those same rules.

No doubt they charge interest on the money owed. It is high interest for money owed for the underpayment of taxes, the last time I noticed.

Wasteful on the part of the government - with the time they take to attach his social security and monitor the drafts from it, they will spend 3000$ collecting 3000$.

I thought Social Security could not be taken to pay bills.
