Although it doesn't yet apply to Senator Brown, the looming "elephant in the room" (that only Huntsman and Perry seem to be addressing) is TERM LIMITS. Apparently, the only solution to this is a constitutional amendment (and we all know how long these take to happen--except in the case of the repeal of prohibition). It should also be possible that the two major political parties BOTH agree to a binding resolution that any candidate who runs under their respective banners commits to term-limits (say two terms, as the presidency is constrained).

Our revolving door between legislators and lobbying (whether registered or not) too often means that the longest- or most powerful serving legislator carries the most heft when it comes to whose influence gets the highest price for influence peddling. Short of completely banning lobbyists entirely, certainly something needs adjustment here. (The specter of "wide-stance" former Idaho Senator Larry Craig hawking for the pro-coal lobby should be enough to inspire change!)

Santorum's "Google problem" was an intentional offense in response to Santorum's outrageous insults to gay people. Brownie's is of his own making. I approve of both, but they aren't really comparable.

"Those search terms, formulated partly based on what other users are searching, often serve up all kinds of negative associations about Members of Congress — from keeping gaffes alive to raising sexual questions — and there’s not much politicians can do about it."

Oh heaven forbid they should have to be *gasp* morally ethical law abiding citizens like the rest of us in order to save their reputation.

I like it - keeps them honest - there isn't much else out there that will keep them that way. It's unfortunate that its not full proof, but overall it's more beneficial to the voter in this case. One can only be lied/manipulated for but so long.

"...and there’s not much politicians can do about it."
how about behaving ethically, as they expect of us by legislation they sign into law.

"Rep. Alcee Hastings, who was impeached by the House in 1988 and removed from his job as a U.S. district judge in Florida after being charged with bribery and perjury. Though he was later cleared of charges..."
...and is why they should have consideration for those on death row falsely charged, but cleared posthumously.

Finally, these political hacks are getting the pay back for their blatant disregard for their contsituents and the public offices they hold. They may try and hide or run from their past, but their hypocrasy, on both sides of the aisle, will come back and haunt them. Lesson to learn: Always act with class and integrity! If you do, then you will never have anything about which to be concerned!

They dislike Google. They also dislike YouTube. Basically both sites expand the collective memory of the public ... which is something that people that lie for a living have a real problem with.
