Guggenheim Museum Launches eBooks Expanded Online Publications

The Guggenheim Launches An Entirely New Venture

The Guggenheim is now taking a stab at digital publishing with the launch of eBooks and an expanded online publication store.

According to the museum's press office, the collection will also include the first-ever catalog of an exhibition to be published in an eBook format.

Some of the publications included in the newly-launched section include a catalog of the current exhibition "Maurizio Cattelan: All" and the 1972 classic children's book "I'd Like the Goo-Geen-Heim." A number of essays are also available on topics from the Brazilian baroque to Malevich's suprematism.

In addition to the eBook offerings, the museum is also offering scanned selections from museum titles going back to 1937. The press office had this to say about these archives:

"Visitors can flip through pages of classic titles such as Alexander Calder: A Retrospective Exhibition, published in 1964; Lawrence Alloway's groundbreaking 1963 catalogue Six Painters and the Object; or the Solomon R. Guggenheim Collection of Non-Objective Paintings, one of the museum’s first publications."

The Museum of Modern Art released an extensive app-based catalog of its Abstract Expressionism exhibit in 2010 (with updates running until October 2011), but we can't wait for more! When is it coming, MoMA?
