Limbaugh: Media Helping Obamas Cover Up Secrets

Rush Limbaugh used a controversial new book about the Obamas to float some new theories about the First Couple on his Monday show.

"The Obamas," by New York Times reporter Jodi Kantor, has already prompted a fierce response from the White House to its stories of infighting between Michelle Obama and her husband's staff. But the media has latched onto another story in the book. Kantor alleges that the White House deliberately downplayed a lavish, Tim Burton-designed Halloween party held in 2009 so as not to appear out of touch with economically struggling voters.

Though they did not mention the details of the party in official briefings at the time, the White House has pushed back on this story as well, saying that the news of the party was mentioned in a Tennessee paper and on a Johnny Depp fan website.

Limbaugh, though, said he agreed with those who saw an aura of secrecy around the event. He also said the media was complicit in covering it up.

"No way the press didn't know about this," he said. "If we didn't know about this, what else is going on in there that we didn't know about... that the press knows about but is choosing not to report?"

Limbaugh also raised the subject of slavery and Jim Crow when he analyzed the Obamas' behavior in office. He said that the couple viewed their tenure as an opportunity to "live high on the hog," and that the idea that they were "owed this because of what's been done to us and our ancestors" was "part of" their thinking.

OMG I don't believe it! The prez and first lady went to a fancy Halloween party and it was COVERED UP! I think we should elect a special prosecutor to make sure they didn't have any fun or wear inappropriate costumes or eat too much expensive food in these tough economic times. It's only ok for wall street executives, members of Congress, celebrities and Republicans. :)

Funny how things are opposite of what they appear.

I don't agree with Rush either. What ever Hollowing Party the had in the WH it is their business, as far as the Obamas helping the American people by raising the Debt ceiling over $15 trillion and the inflation I have to disagree with you. They also own GM now with the Unions. Yes they helped those union workers who no doubt will vote for him. Solyndra crony capitalism $500 million of tax payers money down the toilet.And many others.

The Halloween party that bluto speaks of was held for the children of military families. There was video of the event on the internet provided by the White House, as well as coverage elsewhere. The woman who wrote the book that these " cough 'facts' cough" came from has admitted their are problems with the book, and she could have done better. Didn't Rush promise to move to Costa Rica a few years ago. I think his listeners should demand he show his integrity by keeping his word.

The media helped get Obama elected, suppressed negative stories regarding his relationship with Reverend Wright and has given him a free pass to destroy the US economy. Never in US History has the media been so subservient to the whims of a President. If the White House wants a news blackout to cover up lavish parties, no problem. His lavish multi-million dollar vacations, no problem. Racist, bigoted views of his mentor, Reverend Wright, no problem. His policies have condemned record numbers of Americans to live in poverty. But the 'Fiberal' media just lines up and kisses his ring in subservient obedience.
