Taking a stand against it is one thing ..now if you could commend him for actually doing it himself is another..

Reading comments *between conservatives* at the original piece has been like watching venomous snakes in a barrel. No wonder their candidates are so hateful.

Here's a better example of Rick Perry's insulting pandering in SC:

"The federal government is “assaulting the states on a daily basis,†Perry declared.

“South Carolina, you’re in a state of war with the federal government. They’re after your voter identification bill. They’re after your immigration bill that you passed.â€

http://www.greenvilleonline.com/article/20120109/NEWS03/301090045/Perry-SC-war-federal-government

And here's one example of the SC response to Perry's "state of war" comment:

Maybe Rick Perry should go back to Texas and get his state to secede. SC has done it once and is not interested in doing it again.

Parry is another example that America doesn’t need another example that the teapublicans does not have anything to offer than the same old policies of the bush era. It’s almost as if they parade around the country, and onto various segments Fox-Lies Live, in an ongoing attempt to hypnotize us: you are getting sleepy, very, very sleepy…

Short on money, a desperate Rick Perry recycling old gaffes.

I am still waiting for the first Republican candidate running for president to say George W. Bush's name. I think the Republican establishment should just make an ad right now linking Perry to Bush, and it will be all over for Perry.

Conservatives have erased him from the picture, just like Stalin used to do. Now they're saying Obama has been president since 2001.

Perry scares everyone. He's a loose cannon waiting to continue his disastererous ways, while telling you he's doing such a great job for you. Wouldn't trust him doing anything for me.

It looks to me that republicans are way more split than any will claim. When asked about the various party fractures the standard answer is always "What fractures", but if truth be told, I think party leaders are more worried about this than they are letting on.

You know in 2008 there was a long drawn out battle for the top spot and everyone said it would be a disaster for Obama, but that was not the case. The Hillary supporters came on board and the president went on to make history.

There are several important differences between what is happening in the republican primary this year and the dems in 08. First off, these righties are evangelicas and as the daughter of a Church of Christ preacher I can tell you that these kind of people usually think in terms of my way or no way. If their candidate isn't nominated, they won't fall in line for the good of the party.

Second after all this mud slinging, it will take a deft touch to heal broken bridges and I don't think any of the nominees has it. Third, republicans don't have much of a platform to run on to start with and knocking each other off what one they do have isn't doing it any good. Romney is flat cheering leading for it to fail, and that is hardly going to go over well with people who know better.

Perry himself is not even sure why he's still in the race. He's like that victim who emerges from a chaotic accident scene dazed, confused and wanders around aimlessly until some takes their hand and leads them away.

Unfortunately nobody has volunteered to be the Good Samaritan and show Perry the exit back to Texas.

The whole Republican field must have been in that accident together. that would explain a lot.

It would have to be an out-of-stater. Any Texan who did that might find themselves very unwelcome by the other citizens of Texas.

We all are worried about Perry. I mean his mental health is in danger.
