What to Watch: TV Picks for January 9 - 15

What To Watch: This Week's TV Picks

"The L.A. Complex" - Tuesday January 10, 9 p.m. ET/PT, CTV/MuchMusic

In Hollywood, everything old is new again, so why not in Toronto too? This blatant re-vamp of the original 'Melrose Place' finds Abby, a displaced Torontonian in the City of Angels, broke, evicted and desperate for a place to crash. She then stumbles on The Lux Motel, where single people are sexy. Only the premiere is a simulcast -- the remaining five episodes air on MuchMusic only.

"The Golden Globes" - Sunday January 15, 8 p.m. ET, CTV/NBC

As Ricky Gervais so eloquently told Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview, you can't give offence, you can only take it. So tune in tonight to watch a bunch of Hollywood hypocrites take offence to Ricky's vicious streak. This annual Oscar warm-up is a must for poolies trying to predict the more important hardware, but with Gervais at the helm, it's also a must for lovers of great comedy and great gossip.

"30 Rock" - Thursday January 12, 8 p.m. ET/PT, Citytv/NBC

'30 Rock' gets a mid season debut this year as Tina Fey returns from maternity leave. Fake NBC has a hit on its hands with 'America's Kidz Got Singing' and Jenna is the Simon Cowell of the judges. Meanwhile, Liz has her zen on, and Tracy can't seem to annoy her quite the way he used to, much to his chagrin. And Kenneth is looking forward to the Rapture.

"Biography: Chelsea Handler" - Sunday January 15, 8 p.m. ET, Biography

I suppose if you're not fond of Ricky Gervais and don't want to watch the Globes, recommending Chelsea Handler to you is probably useless. Chelsea is just as likely to rip your favourite celeb a new one, just in a really different way. But for fans of her books and TV show, this is a chance to get a glimpse of her early stand-up work and get the skinny on her nutty family.
