Habib Family Killed In India During Winter Vacation Trip (VIDEO)

Naperville Family Killed In India While On Vacation

All four members of a Naperville family vacationing in India were killed in a car accident Friday, on the last day of their children's first trip to meet family overseas.

Iqbal Habib, 45, his wife Zeenat, 39, their daughter Fareeza, 10, and son Ashaz, 6, died after the driver lost control of their vehicle while the family was sightseeing in Kirawali, NBC Chicago reports. The family had lived in Naperville for the past nine years and were active members of the Ismaili Muslim community in the area.

Grief counselors have been at Spring Brook Elementary School this week, where the two children were students, helping their classmates cope with the news, CBS Chicago reports.

"They were a wonderful family," Principal David Worst told CBS. "We're just grieving. The students and teachers are really shaken up."

Iqbal Habib headed Habib Enterprises Inc., which owned several retail food businesses in the area, the Chicago Tribune reports. Zeenat Habib worked as a mortgage consultant for JPMorgan Chase in Downers Grove, and was described by neighbors as an active volunteer in the community. Both from India, Iqbal had lived in the Chicago area for at least 30 years, and Zeenat immigrated in the 1990s.

Private funeral services are being held at Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines.
