Katie Holmes' Shirtless H. Stern Ads Are One Way To Sell Jewelry (PHOTOS)

Katie Holmes is the new face of luxury jewelry company H.Stern, but in the ads, she's showing a lot more than her face. *rimshot*

In the ads, Katie poses sans shirt, staring down the camera with kohl-rimmed eyes and tousled hair while dripping in diamonds and gold jewelry and alternating between, well, a black bra and a white bra.

Katie, 33, has fronted fashion ads before (for Ann Taylor), but this is definitely the sexiest shill we've seen from her. (Although fans might remember that Holmes went topless in her 2000 movie "The Gift.")

We love the oceanfront vibe of the ads, which are apparently only being used promotionally in Israel right now, but we think she looks a little... intense. It's okay, Katie! Don't kill us! We'll buy your jewelry!

Katie was paid to wear this intense look in the ad, I find it's trying to place more emphasis on the jewellery just by her expressions. In a couple pics she has the smallest smile creeping her face, and she gives a look that she feels sexy. The photos wouldn't even give the same vibe if she were smiling her usual bubbly grin. They've given her an attitude is what they've done, and not too many like it.

She looks very good here, although some of the photoshopping makes her arms look weird. As a model, fine, but whenever I see her act, sing or dance, I feel I am at some high school show.

So to whom is are these ads supposed to appeal? They appear to target men, not women. As a woman, these ads do not make me want to buy this jewelry. Sure, she is attractive/sexy, but so what? I am not likely to be induced to buy anything by an ad targeted at males.

Man, I am glad you wrote that..

I asked my husband that the other night. If they want me to buy women's items, have Jon Hamm, George Clooney, Hugh Jackman, etc., hold up a necklace, bra, underwear, jeans, shoes, etc. I'll fall all over myself buying the product :)
