Rachel Maddow Tracks Down Rick Santorum In New Hampshire (VIDEO)

WATCH: Maddow Accosts Rick Santorum

Rachel Maddow has been quite vocal in her quest to interview one of the GOP candidates. During her Monday MSNBC show, Maddow revealed that she finally got her chance.

Last week, Maddow literally chased Jon Huntsman in New Hampshire, which did not result in an on air interview. She also attended a campaign event for GOP candidate Rick Santorum, but had to stand in the back of an overflow room.

After she finished taping her show Friday evening from her hotel in New Hampshire, Maddow learned that Santorum, at that very moment, was just above her head on the mezzanine level of the hotel. He was in the midst of a radio interview.

Maddow said she went upstairs. During a commercial break, she asked Santorum about his thoughts on contraception. "You've said you've been mischaracterized on that [issue]. Do you think the country would be better off if there was less contraception use?"

Santorum spent the commercial break answering Maddow's question by referencing a 2009 Brookings Institute study that, according to Santorum, was about three things individuals could do to avoid poverty. Maddow attempted to ask a follow-up question, but was cut off as the radio show was about to return from commercial break.

"Rick Santorum saved by the bell there...That was it! That was my time with Rick Santorum!" Maddow said. "Asked whether the country would be better off with less contraception use, Mr. Santorum...sort of ran out the clock talking about things other than contraception use."
