'Tattoo': Van Halen's First David Lee Roth Song In 16 Years (VIDEO)

Van Halen Unleashes First David Lee Roth Song In 16 Years!

Close your eyes and it just may feel like it's 1984 again.

Van Halen has reunited once again with original flamboyant frontman David Lee Roth and, together, the rockers have released their first new Roth-sung single in 16 years. Called "Tattoo," it's a soft-edged harkening back to the old days of the power 80s, with Roth's voice still reaching the skies and Eddie Van Halen's guitar solos calling up flames from below.

While not quite the full original lineup -- Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddie's son, is on bass instead of Michael Anthony -- it still marks a welcome return to form for the crew that began playing together in 1972. A brief reunion in 1996 and a tour in 2007-2008 also put them together, but new music has eluded their fan base until now. A whole new album, "A Different Kind of Truth," is out in February; it will be their first together in nearly 28 years.

The video for "Tattoo," which hit at midnight, was shot in famed club The Roxy; last week, the group played at iconic New York spot Cafe Wha. Check out the new video below, and below that, see some performance from the New York show.
