UPDATE (4 PM EST): According to the AP, Jolie and her partner, Brad Pitt, met with the President in the Oval Office on Wednesday. The news service reports that they spoke about "her work on preventing mass atrocities and combating sexual violence against women."

PREVIOUSLY: Angelina Jolie's new film is called "In the Land of Blood and Honey." She could also use that bittersweet monicker to describe her review of President Obama's job performance.

Appearing at the National Holocaust Museum in Washington to promote her directorial debut, Jolie shared her mixed feelings on the direction of the country with the Daily Caller.

"I think there are many, many things I think have gone in a wonderful direction and there are a few things I am disappointed in but I don't feel like tonight is the night to clarify," she said. "But there are many wonderful things that have moved forward, and of course, some other things that are very frustrating."

It was a pretty milquetoast, evasive answer, and perhaps one that was borne out of being stung by her words in the past. In 2009, it was reported that Jolie was a reluctant supporter of Obama and called him a "one-term President." Jolie took issue with that when it was brought up by the Caller.

"Reported by who? By Us Weekly?" she asked. "You gotta read better papers."

In fact, it was Fox News that was the source of that story; they cited "insiders" who said Jolie was disappointed with Obama's supposed disinterest in issues happening around the world.

Jolie, a Humanitarian Ambassador for the UN for the past decade whose movie addresses the humanitarian crisis of the Yugoslav War, alluded to displeasure with an overall international approach to foreign aid. That could, perhaps, be one of the issues with which Jolie is frustrated.

I really wish that O had been a real leader. He has done nothing but go Joe Hollywood. There are a lot of things this country needs taken care of now, and being Mr. Cool isn't one of them.

I would really like it if 'Hollywood' would keep their political opinions to themselves. They have an unfair press advantage that the rest of us do not have.

If she has some sort of real opinion like Damon did, I could see why this is news, but it's just not. She could have been talking about her limo driver with all she revealed! HP is compelled to have as many pointless stories about this woman as possible. Money, not reader's interests, is what these stories stem from. I guess anything about our President will garner clicks, though.

It is that way with every President, it is impossible to please everyone. All President are out to help the people who got them elected, the rich and powerful. Does not matter which party it is or who it is, the rich give them millions and expect to get favors in return. The Bush tax cuts for the rich were extended by Obama. In fact, if you look at what Bush did and what Obama has done there is very little difference between them. bank/corporate bailouts, expansion of free trade, escalating wars of aggression, extending the Patriot act which Obama added more extreme attacks on freedoms. torture and sport killing is still going on at Gitmo which Obama promised he would close, free speech restrictions and attacks on freedom of peaceful assembly most recently D. Hannah in front of the White House, illegal domestic surveillance, rule of law is no more, banks can openly loot and defraud the public, the government can spy on Americans, the TSA can grope our private parts, while large corporations continue to poison us and the environment with impunity. The patriot act that Obam opposed as a Senator he now embraces and has added more to it like the "kill switch" for the internet. As always, no matter who is elected the rich get richer and the poor stay poor.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are great people. I now realize that Angelina had to be as "politically correct" as possible in her comment about President Obama. The starting point is to avoid offending someone in order to persuade a positive change.

Blessings to Angelina, Brad and their large family!!!

Wow, did she let Obama have it or not?

Wait! "Some Things Wonderful, Others Frustrating." Looks like the typical response to what we all think of fellow human beings we care for. No one is perfect. Being Angelina Jolie, she could have probably found "some things frustrating," about Mother Teresa.

We should care? Why?

Simply amazing. From self-mutilating, anti-social, confused sexual orientation, heroin user, and (other people's) fiancee and husband wrangler, to altruistic humanitarian and fan proclaimed Saint...what else is left but to tell the President how to...well...BE the President?

Or, is it really all about getting more PR for the latest movie project...?

I am not entirely convinced that she has left the things you mentioned all behind.

Jennifer,
I was just reading a med journal on anorexia/eating disorders and it reminded me that patients who deprive themselves of food are often into self-mutilation as well...this may be all that stuff that's under the tip of the iceberg!

Obviously she's not my favorite actress/celeb but I felt really sorry for her last week at the Academy Awards -- she is not looking well and all of those past demons may be breaking out of the basement...or attic, or where ever she's locked them up. Would actually love to see her get help and be healthy and feel (sincerely) comfortable in her own skin (with some healthly lean muscles underneath). She's got at least 6 good reasons at home to motivate her...

Why do people get frustrated that the POTUS doesn't "rescue the world". We have a limited amount of resources, and must choose wisely how we use them. As for Africa, there are many countries there and all seem to have a crisis at some time, we have been sending billions for decades and it seems to be the same situation. I don't think we should stop, but I don't think we should fault the POTUS, regardless of who it is, because of the situation.

It never fails. Take a person who is happy, successful, giving, and you will have so much jealousy and animosity from those who are miserable and unhappy in their own lives.
10:45 PM on 01/13/2012
AlsoSarah,
Please wake up...not EVERYONE who has valid criticism of Jolie's actions regarding this "presidential visit" or any celebrity for that matter, is unhappy, unsuccessful, or without charitable actions.
What never fails is someone who is smitten by a celebrity to the point of being unable to see reality, assuming that non-celebrities cannot be altruistic, successful, attractive, and happy with their lives.
You've overdosed on the Jolie kool-aid.

Agreed. I, and many others, give and do a lot for charity. However, I'm certainly not qualified to advise the president on matters of foreign policy, nor is Angelina Jolie.
