Obama Returning To Chicago For Concert, Fundraises

President Barack Obama is returning to his hometown of Chicago Wednesday afternoon to raise some campaign cash -- one day after Mitt Romney won the New Hampshire Republican primary.

Before a Wednesday night concert headlined by actor Hill Harper and R&B singer Janelle Monae, Obama will speak at at the University of Illinois-Chicago speak to more than 500 supporters. Tickets to the concert start at $44--possibly a nod to the "Gen 44" campaign team that organized the event-- and go up to $1,000 for VIP access.

Later Wednesday evening, media mogul Fred Eychaner is hosting a $35,800-per-couple private dinner for the President at his North Side home, NBC Chicago reports. A private reception is also scheduled at the Hyde Park home of Evonne and Stuart Taylor that evening, with ticket prices ranging between $7,000 and $20,000.

Obama's campaign has hauled in more than $150 million through September, but Democrats say they will need to compete with Republican-leaning outside groups that can raise and spend unlimited amounts of money to back specific candidates.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that White House chief of staff Bill Daley, who recently resigned, will join the president on his brief Chicago trip.
