Rupert Murdoch On Newt Gingrich: 'Visionary But Just Too Much Baggage!'

Murdoch's Intriguing Tweet About Newt Gingrich

Rupert Murdoch tweeted some words of consolation -- and criticism -- for GOP candidate and former News Corp. employee Newt Gingrich on Wednesday morning.

The News Corp. CEO tweeted: "Can't blame Newt G too much. He was carpet bombed with negatives by Romney. Brilliant, visionary but just too much baggage! And erratic."

His comments came one day after Gingrich placed fourth in the New Hampshire primary with less than 10% of the vote. Before running for president, Gingrich worked at Murdoch's company as a Fox News contributor.

Murdoch joined Twitter at the end of 2011, and has been using the medium to weigh in on everything from the weather to the GOP race.

In the lead-up to the Iowa caucus, the media baron tweeted his praise for Rick Santorum, who he called the "only candidate with genuine big vision for country." On Wednesday, he also credited Governor Chris Christie for contributing to Mitt Romney's win in New Hampshire.
