The Basics
Known as "Le Massif" to locals,
is located northeast of Quebec City in Petite-Riviere-Saint Francois. To make the 43 miles easier to traverse, the resort built a
to bring ski enthusiasts to the mountain. Although it is the only resort in the area, Le Massif also draws in skiers and snowboarders because it is known to have the highest vertical drop in eastern Canada.
The Mountain
With the season starting in late November and ending in early April,
has a total of 406 acres of skiable terrain. The summit's altitude is 2,645 feet, while the vertical drop is 2,526 feet. Located on the south side of the mountain, the longest, steepest and most difficult run, Le Charlevoix, runs more than three miles long with a pitch of 64 percent. Annually receiving 22 feet of hard-packed and loose granular snow, Le Massif is also capable of producing its own snow when necessary.
Trails And Lifts
Best known for its competition-friendly trail Le Charlevoix, Le Massif proudly boasts
, 15 percent of which are tailored to beginners. The
are designed for intermediate, advanced and expert skiers. To get skiers to the top of the mountain, Le Massif has six lifts, which include one pulse gondola, two high-speed quads, one platter-type lift, one novice conveyor lift and one high-speed detachable quad.
