Lil Wayne Writing Prison Memoir

Lil Wayne

01/12/12 02:16 PM ET   AP

NEW YORK — Lil Wayne is offering a literary tour of his prison days.

The million-selling rapper has signed with Grand Central Publishing, a division of Hachette Book Group, for the memoir "Gone Till November." Hachette announced Thursday that the book will tell of his eight months spent at the Rikers Island complex on a gun possession charge. Scheduled to come out in November, two years after his release, the book will be an "internal monologue," based on diaries he kept while in prison.

Born Dwayne Carter Jr., Lil Wayne had the best-selling album of 2008 with "Tha Carter III," which won a best rap album Grammy.

Wish he would write one that ends up being a "don't be stupid and reckless; don't do anything to get yourself in jail" message. Some of his young fans need to hear that from someone they look up to.

Seriously? That's like Bristol Palin writing a book about her life....wait, what?
06:49 PM on 01/12/2012
He went to prison he made a book deal he hired a writer. Which part of this confuses you?
06:46 PM on 01/12/2012
WOW....Lil Wayne writing a memior of his time in jail. Now that is some role model for all of our children to look up to.

Two words...Good Grief.

How about reading Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz's latest book "Onward" which described how he and his leadership team turned Srarbucks around....now that is someone to look up to, let alone learn from.

Unless that CEOs book states how he didn't take a backdoor deal to rise to the top its not worth reading. Not to mention Starbucks success is about 99.9% based on their marketing and NOT their product. Ask any real coffee buff, its not good.

starbucks taste so bad...

Not surprising at all to me. Lil Wayne is actually an incredible smart guy. If you see him, he's a pretty small and nerdy looking too. I know the tats and attitude don't show it, but it's why his music is so good. I'll be interested to read what he has to say and I hope it's reflective of his intelligence.

Wayne is a smart guy. I'll read his book.

Really? are you insane. Lil Wayne smart. he may know how to make music but smart I don't think so. If he was so smart he would not be going to prison and it's not even his first time going to prison.

I hope someone else writes it. I can't tell you how many times I've felt that some of his metaphors just don't really work....

Actually, Lil Wayne is a pretty smart guy. And you're, obviously, practicing the politics of envy. Why would you want to punish his success?
05:59 PM on 01/12/2012
If you actually look at what hes saying and know why he went to prison, you couldnt possibly come to the decision that he is in any way intelligent.
06:42 AM on 01/13/2012
Haha We all envy rich ppl according to mitt

What did you do in 2008, 9, 10 or 11?

...Lil Wayne had the best-selling album of 2008 with "Tha Carter III," which won a best rap album Grammy.
04:42 PM on 01/12/2012
Because what's most popular always has the most intrinsic value. I should have remembered that.
06:11 PM on 01/12/2012
Yeah, but that was for music, not writing a book.
