People's Choice Awards 2012: Red Carpet Brings Out The Brightest Stars! (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 01/12/2012 7:31 am EST   Updated: 01/09/2013 3:50 pm EST

Red, white and blue... and pink and yellow and green all made appearances at the People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Although the dress code was ambiguous (outfits ranged from daytime skirt-and-top combos to sparkly evening gowns), celebrities all seemed to follow some unspoken rule to wear as many bright colors as possible.

And surprisingly, most of them looked pretty darn good. Kelly Osbourne picked a lovely, long orange-skirted dress; Chloe Moretz looked fashion-forward yet age-appropriate in a black and green Proenza Schouler dress; and Ginnifer Goodwin reminded us what a real style star she is in a neon pink Roksanda Ilincic frock with bell sleeves.

But then Emma Stone hit the red carpet and made everyone else look like amateurs. The starlet wore a trim Gucci jacket with black trim a gold chain across the front, a white blouse and narrow black trousers that fit like a glove.

Between the slick cut, inventive design and vivid color against her red hair, Stone hit it out of the park.

Check out all the celebs, from TV actresses to pageant queens, in their bright red carpet looks. Who had the best look of the night? Tell us in the comments!

kelly Osborne should practice her facial expressions and smile in the mirror. They are not very attractive!

I don't know who most of these people are and this is the ugliest collection of dresses I have ever seen at an award show. I always like to look through the award show pics to look at the dresses, but these are the worst.

Kaley needs to do something with those eyebrows because the Tampa Bay Brow is déclassé.

I find the Hollywood set DISAPPOINTING! No style whatsoever, no taste and very unbecoming hairstyles. The hairstyles for the most part should have been paired with jeans and a casual shirt. Who is advising this group of ladies. No glamour whatsoever! And, Where is the jewelry and shoe police! Good Grief!

There's a reason that parties used to have clues like "black tie" in the invitations -- so people had a clue about what was expected. Of all of the photos, only Busy Philipps (and I have no clue who she is) looked like she had figured it out. She's in a slinky dress that looks like you could wear it to a restaurant for a nice dinner, and any guy escorting her would be really proud and delighted to be with her. The rest - well, it looks like the dresses overwhelm them. The big ball gowns are too frou-frou (I learned that from that desgin-sewing show), and the other short dresses looks too tight, too glittery, too much stuff going on. And why can't a woman have a nice hairdo to go with the clothes? Some of them seem to have no connection between their hair and their dress - one looked like she just got into her dress with her hair still wet from the shower. Not appealing to this appreciator of female beauty.

I don't know who most of these people are - came here to see if there was a pic of friend Beth Behrs. There was and she looks fabulous! However, I'm tired of looking at bony knees and elbows. And is there some school somewhere that teaches them all to pose in that same way? Do you get fined if you don't have one hand on your hip?

...but more than half the people pictured here are just wearing black, white or off-white...
so I appreciate those who inject some orange, green, or yellow!
although I am not loving Jennifer Lawrence's dress on its own, it really reminds me of a "District 4" theme, the waves and such..Hunger Games geeks know what I mean.

I have no idea who 3/4 of these people are! Do they actually make movies?

PFFFT! wtf, a bunch of mid tier soap opera stars in expensive and often ugly designer dresses that are only going to be wore once. Sure there were a couple cuties in there, but what a vacuos gaudy irrelevent exersise in emptiness. I'd rather see pics of Kelly and Sharon Osbourne or any of the others visiting a V.A. hospital, homeless shelter or nursing home in a sweater and blue jeans. Of what value is this, compared to our current national situation. Do any of these people have any thoughts for others beyond their own ambitions to be memorialize 'forever' in some 'walk of stars' forever young or other tripe?

It's the style section. It's about dresses. If you lack interest in dresses, may I suggest the politics section? Please and thank you.

I think that was the idea with that dress... it leaves nothing to the imagination! I think it was a real nod to S&M style...

1. That neon trend has got to go, especially the pink.
2. Miley Cyrus looks great
3. Isn't Rachel Crow like 13? That dress is too old for you, kid.

Did these ladies just randomly turn toward the camera and find themselves with leg twists or do they all want to go to the bathroom?
