'Suburgatory': Dan Byrd From 'Cougar Town' Guests As Undercover Narc (VIDEO)

'Suburgatory': 'Cougar Town's Dan Byrd Is Undercover

With "Cougar Town" still off the schedule, though ABC has now said it will tentatively return in March, fans have had to look across the dial for the cul de sac crew. Castmembers having been making cameos on various shows, with Dan Byrd getting one of the more substantial roles on "Suburgatory" (Wednesday, 8:30 p.m. EST on ABC).

Byrd played Josh, an undercover narcotics officer at Tessa's school. When she's assigned to be his buddy by the principal, Mr. Wolfe, she becomes convinced that he's pinging on her gaydar. While she misunderstands his investigations into the football team for steroid usage, jumping to the wrong conclusions, the story parallels George's own misunderstandings about Dallas' hiring him to help set up her store.

He's just not used to her overly friendly ways, just as Tessa reasonably couldn't have guessed what Josh was really doing at her school. That said, nobody is really going to buy that Dallas isn't interested in more than just working with George. But that's going to be the driving sexual tension for a long time on this show, so there's no rush to progress it. And having them work together on her store will only heighten things, just the way fans like it.

Hopefully, "Cougar Town" will return in March as promised, while "Suburgatory" is on every Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. EST on ABC.
