Chad Ochocinco Invites Fan, Victor Gonzalez, To Patriots vs. Broncos Playoff Game On Twitter

Keep an eye on the Twitter timeline of any high-profile athlete and you'll see one fan after another tweeting at the star asking for a retweet. For some the occasion is a birthday or a charitable cause. For others it's just because they want the attention.

At first, Victor Gonzalez was just another fan who wanted to get the attention of one of his favorite athletes on Twitter. A few tweets and one plane ticket later, Gonzalez is the envy of every sports fan.

Gonzalez is a college student in Florida who tweeted at Chad Ochocinco earlier this week to tell him that he had been tweeting at the Patriots star for two years and had yet to get a response. Ochocinco apparently got hold of the tweet, and feeling guilty, decided to make amends.

Victor Gonzalez
Been tweeting you for two years and have not ever gotten a response 😞

Chad Ochocinco
Damn 2 years? My bad. Want to come to the game saturday? RT : Been tweeting you for two years and have not ever gotten a response

Victor Gonzalez
I would love to but i live in FLA. can you fly me out? Lol RT : Damn 2 years? My bad. (cont)

Chad Ochocinco
You can fly out with my brothers n RT : I would love to but i live in FLA. can you fly me out?

Ochocinco then informed Gonzalez that someone would contact him to set up the arrangements, and that was that. The Pats' wide receiver was among Twitter's early adopters in the sports community. Not only has he had some of his finest 140-character gems featured in "Athlete Tweets Of The Week" at HuffPost Sports and even met his wife on Twitter.

Perhaps this generous offer to a fan shouldn't come as such a surprise coming from Ochocinco. After all, he actually talked about living with a fan shortly after joining the Patriots. Any lingering doubts that he would follow through were put to rest when Gonzalez tweeted a photo Friday evening of him and Ochocino together at Foxboro.

While many believe Tim Tebow has God on his side going in the Saturday's Patriots-Broncos playoff game, it's quite possible that the Patriots will have karma on theirs courtesy of No. 85 on your scorecards but No. 1 in your timeline.

Easier to give attention when you only have one fan. Way to go Occo!

That's great!
Glad Ochocinco is keeping himself busy as he isn't getting much on field play time :) Maybe Bill will let him try and catch one this week.

Top 11 reasons Pats will beat Ravens:

Woodhead - Wilfork - Anderson - Ninkovich - Belichick

Nice move, but Tedy B. was right, more time in the playbook, less time on Twitter. One snap played on Saturday.

Wonder if Chad Tweets his 4 kids from 4 X's ? Plays catch with them often? Think they enjoy watching daddy "interview" a couple of dozen "ladies" for the privelege of producing another 1/2 little brother or sister ? True measure of a man is what kind of father he is to his children.Hows Chad doing in that department?

I don't know, how is he doing? I don't think I've heard any stories about him being a deadbeat dad. As long as he has a good relationship with them and they aren't complaining, it's ok for him to be on Twitter.

Unfan .01:53 AM on 01/14/2012 85 has done a great job of coming to work with the Patriots.
He has behaved admirably, kept his mouth shut and worked hard.
This offense has lots of weapons, Chad is a welcome contributor.
I agree 100% billnbstn,
The way he has handled himself as a member of the Patriots deserves praise..
Ochocinco has been a class act.& I expect to see him in the end zone before this post season is over..

Loved him here in Cinci. But he belongs on a team with superstar Brady, who balances out Ochos "celebrity" status. He's a sweet guy too for doing that for the fan. A lot of sweet guys in the NFL...that's why I love football! Always exciting. No matter who is playing. Little do most people know how many of us elderly woman are out there in front of our tv's watching NFL. My 80 year old mother and I were on the phone for 2 hours yesterday...and what did we talk about for an hour? NFL football and players and teams we like. We agreed to call each other for both games yesterday if we should happen to miss a great play. In spanish there is no such word for ochocinco. 85 = ochenta y cinco. My ex is Argentinian and pointed this out to me a couple of years ago.

Folks can say what they want about ole Chad...but the man seems to have heart. There's not too many athletes I hear about treating folks to eat and to the movies...but he's been known to do just that.

Some don't like him. It seems that his crime is/was believing the game should be about having fun.

I didn't get that out of the article. But come to think of it, it is a little lame for fanfolks to assume that sports and entertainment people read their tweets. Half those people don't even send their own tweet mail.
