CNET:

In a move the technology sector will surely see as a victory, a controversial antipiracy bill being debated in Congress will no longer include a provision that would require ISPs to block access to overseas Web sites accused of piracy.

"Instead of helping to come up with mechanisms to deny access to the U.S. market by foreign criminals," the RIAA wrote, "the opposition just keeps saying no. It is incumbent upon them to help develop language that will ensure that criminals can't access our market, while at the same time protecting our need for national cybersecurity."

lol....Is this person serious? The big corps gave away the store when they OUTSOURCED tech jobs, i.e. manufacturing and anti-virus software to the biggest crooks - the CHINESE. And the AMERICAN people are getting punished?

It's interesting that one of the biggest opponents of SOPA is Darrell Issa, a R from California. He took the time to talk to technology people, not just lobbyists.

Two major and early backers of SOPA are John Conyers, D New Jersey, and Howard Berman D Hollywood.

If you are implying that no conservatives are sponsoring SOPA, you are seriously misinformed.

This is very dangerous trend in preventing the public from accessing the wealth of information it already paid for. Here is another example:

Good news. Why are the big studios still relevant in the era of rich and fast Internet media is beyond me. Whom I am willing to pay directly are the artists, performers and content creators. I couldn't care less about all the middle men, who try to blackmail us into preserving their jobs.

Silly article writer - We don't like the whole damn thing.

They pull that particular article and pass the whole rest? Whats to stop them from putting back in later?

What about public domain, with the ever growing presence of the internet, any sort of censorship with no real legal recourse for the accused is unacceptable.

just pull the whole of "sopa". At this point, if this horrible congress and administration is devoted time and effort to something there must be something majorly wrong.

The whole thing is an affront to all the American software designers that made this possible, not to mention all of our tax dollars that paid to make this accessible to all.

Agreed. The point I always try to make is, no matter your political affiliation, these bills are an attack on anyone who is proud to call themselves an American citizen, perpetrated by a government that is beyond out of control in it's quest for ultimate power.
