Mitt Romney Hits Back Against Bain Capital Attacks

Mitt Romney Ad Bain Capital Attacks

First Posted: 01/13/12 08:44 AM ET Updated: 01/14/12 08:15 AM ET

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney is out with a new TV ad in South Carolina defending his record as a job creator and hitting his fellow GOP opponents for criticizing him alongside the Obama administration.

"Mitt Romney helped create and ran a company that invested in struggling businesses, started new ones, and rebuilt old ones, creating thousands of jobs. Those are the facts," says the narrator, highlighting companies like Staples, Steel Dynamics and Sports Authority.

"We expected the Obama administration to put free markets on trial, but as the Wall Street Journal said, 'Mr. Romney's GOP opponents are embarrassing themselves by taking the Obama line.'"

WATCH:

On Thusday, a pro-Newt Gingrich super PAC began airing TV and radio ads in South Carolina going after Romney's career in the private equity world.

Mitt Romney most likely would have been smart enough not to funded a losing company like Solyndra. Then restructure at again a year later allowing tax payer money going to second position. Then in 2011 losing it all.

Corporate raiders like Rmny while he was at Bain do not create jobs. They are akin to the jackals on thte Serengeti. They take down injured animals and then strip them of their flesh, laving the bones to bleach and lie dormant in the sun. The skeletons are the equivalent of the people who lose their jobs as Bain sells off the viable parts of the uinjured companies -- the flesh. There is nothing pretty about it. What gives them the right and power to do this? Their wealth.

I don't know about the rest of you out their but I feel that each person that has been closed by Bain and Mitt should sue for our money back from the reitement that he stolen. We had no Idea that it went down the way it did but now that I know that he striped my retirement when they closed the plant, I feel like we have the right to sue him.

While you are at it, you can sue Bethlehem Steel, USSteel, American Motors, Studebaker, PanAmerican Airlines, and hundreds of other companies that have either gone bankrupt or sold their failing businesses to others that were doing better. Most company pension programs have a government insurance program that protects their retirement benefits in case a bankruptcy happens. There are no promises by anyone or any entity including our government that can be 100% guaranteed.

I have in mind that Mitt Romney claims job creation at Bain "controlled" companies from the time those companies were absorbed by Bain....until NOW.
He claims to have created all these jobs even though he has not been involved with Bain for many years.
Have I got my facts correct and this man is hugely dishonest? OR!!

Mitt just doesn't get it. Too bad he's so dense. Mitt is trying to get everyone to believe that they are attacking apitalism or ventutre capital businesses. They are NOT. It's like saying we are attacking football when we call a quarterback in the league a total failure (like Sanchez). We're not attacking the game pal we're attacking a bum player like you Mitt. Listen we the elctorate have grown wise to this dumbed-down political lying. Grow up Mitt. You'll NEVER be president. EVER.

As far as creating manufacturing jobs, the likes that can sustain a family, Bain has a good record of job creation, unfortunately, not in this Country. Very few manufacturing based companies succeeded in this Country. Most were gutted and shipped elsewhere.
A vast majority of jobs created by Bain are service sector and are more a consolidation of smaller businesses. So while a corporation like Staples does well, many smaller companies and mom and pop stores have dropped out.

You just can't make these things up:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0711/58952.html#ixzz1hqSHP532

“The way the company was rescued was with a federal bailout of $10 million,†the ad says. “The rest of us had to absorb the loss … Romney? He and others made $4 million in this deal. … Mitt Romney: Maybe he’s just against government when it helps working men and women.â€

The facts of the Bain & Co. turnaround are a little more complicated, but a Boston Globe report from 1994 confirms that Bain saw several million dollars in loans forgiven by the FDIC, which had taken over Bain’s failed creditor, the Bank of New England.

Romney aides pushed back strongly on the Democratic charge that Bain & Co. received anything like a TARP-style “bailout.†While the FDIC is a government agency, it is funded by deposit insurance payments rather than taxes. The agency agreed to reduce Bain & Co.’s liability to the Bank of New England, but didn’t pump new funds into the flagging firm. Other Bain creditors also took a haircut in order to avert the company’s collapse.

Of course, the deposit insurance was paid for by the customers of the bank in fees etc. Must be nice to have your bros forgive millions of dollars of loans to you when your buddies at the Bank ruined it.
