'The Revolution' Hosts Preview Their New Daytime Makeover Show (VIDEO)

The Revolution

Posted: 01/13/2012 3:57 pm

What is "The Revolution"? Yes, soap fans know it as one of the shows that's taken over the timeslots of their dearly-departed daytime dramas (R.I.P. "One Life To Live"), but this is one show that might be compelling enough to squash their boycotts.

Executive producer JD Roth has assembled an all-star team of experts from every field -- "Project Runway" mentor and style guru Tim Gunn, celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak, women's health expert Dr. Jennifer Ashton, relationship therapist Dr. Tiffanie Davis Henry and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" home guru Ty Pennington -- to help people truly change their lives on TV.

The pros have been hard at work for months now, working with their makeover subjects, whom they call heroes for many different reasons. Some of the people on the show survived Hurricane Katrina, others are too busy protecting and serving as police officers to take care of themselves, but they all have one thing in common: They're ready to make changes in their routines and habits to live healthier, happier lives.

"The Revolution" will show us the ups and downs of their five-month transformations over the course of five days, with a new total life makeover spanning each week. Watch our video interview with all the hosts and Roth below to get their take on what makes this series so unique.

"The Revolution" premieres Mon., Jan. 16, 2 p.m. EST/1 p.m. PST on ABC.

I suspect that my post won't be read-posting anyway! I was very upset after your financial "expert" segment today. The woman who was asking for assistance was told to cancel her basic connection needs, abandon her son's needs, and that she should figure out how to "stash away" 9,000 dollars - before thinking about a vacation....GET REAL! The woman who was advising her makes a huge salary. Comments regarding the fact that her daughters will graduate from college "debt free" made the rest of use feel inept. My husband and I, who planned way ahead for our son's college education were thrown a curve ball when the public school recommended retention for our promising son. After multiple meetings, much anxiety, meetings with the Superintendent and the school board, we lost our case. We were forced to send our child, and later his brother to a private elementary school... Not in our plan... Result? College savings spent before even entering high school.... So, we as well as they, have college debt.... I thought that the segment was narrow and made those of us, who are struggling to make ends meet, feel demeaned and stupid. I think that today was my last visit to The Revolution.... Most of us are regular people trying to make ends meet.... you insulted the entire human race with the treatment of "Mom with Son". Your "expert' made her feel stupid. SHAME ON YOU!!!!

Why has no journalist questioned the credentials of Tiffanie Davis Henry, Ed.D? She has a doctorate in human sexuality education from Widener University (Chester, PA) in 2009. She wasn't trained as a clinician. The Psychology Today website misrepresents her as having a PhD, but she is not a clinical psychologist. Her Georgia state license as a professional counselor (LPC) was obtained in 2004 after the examination was waived. She is not licensed to practice anything outside the state of Georgia.

Also, this article reads as a press release issued by ABC. If this stenographer (can't say reporter in this case) is working for ABC Publicity, HuffPo should say so.

It "inspires" me to change the channel. They killed OLTL for this cheap crap?

Like anyone who was watching this time slot gives a crap about these 5 people that are getting their lives made over. We want to watch the same characters that we grew to love with all their flaws and quirks in our beloved soaps!! Im sorry to say , that even if it does fail, we will still not get back
OLTL or AMC!!

i have never seen it but i hate it already
bring back our soaps

I have one word and it's "fail". Come on now, i'm 21 and in that "younger demographic" that ABC is "trying" so hard to get. All I can say is I was never a fan of Project Runway or Extreme Makeover: Home Edition or any of those other ridiculous weight loss shows out there.

I don't care about some random woman wanting to make a change in her life.... If you want to make a change all you need is your doctor and family you shouldn't need 5 total strangers who are going to not only point out ALL your flaws, but then tell you without them you have no hope AND put it on national television. That reminds me of all the stupid girls that go on Maury talking about the guy is their "baby daddy" just to find out she was wrong and has just embarrassed herself on national television.

I pray the ratings are low and the share holders start asking ABC/Disney why they royally screwed them over because the soap fans aren't going anywere and these shows are basically copies of things that can be found anywhere else.

Yeah, good luck with that. Thanks for killing OLTL. Once Desperate Housewives is gone, I will not watch ABC again.
