A U.S. Coast Guard search of the Detroit River near Grosse Ile today came up empty, according to Lt. Justin Westmiller. A 3 p.m. call from the city police department that a person in the area reported seeing what appeared to be a body prompted the search.
"We got right out there and searched from about 3:30 to 8:30," Westmiller said. A Coast Guard helicopter searched for about 45 minutes before departing because of fuel.
