TechCrunch:

In September at f8, Facebook announced partnerships with slew of companies who would develop Open Graph Timeline apps. Airbnb, Path, Ticketmaster, Payvment, Causes and 30 others all said they were onboard to produce apps allowing users to share when they "traveled", "purchased" something online, "donated" to a charity, and other activity. 4 months later and many of these Open Graph applications have yet to launch, but that will change tomorrow night according to our sources when a new class of Open Graph lifestyle apps is unveiled at a Facebook press event.

Communicating with real friends, priceless. For everything else there's the new Facebook

And just why would I be interested in what someone else bought or donated money to? For that matter why would anyone care what I buy or donate to? Is anyone going to wake up and see that churning and rechurning of on-line activity is basically worthless and the notion that you can actually make real money that way is nuts? The only people paying into this balloon are those afraid not to because they think or know their competitors are. Step back and see its a bunch of huey.

Of course, it makes perfect sense to invite marketing solicitation angles within the Facebook model. How else are you going to convince potential IPO investors that it has a cash flow. Like all good things they come to end. I would suggest Mr. Zuckerberg read "The Power of Pull" by John Hagel III, John Seely Brown, and Lang Davison. In particular, I would pay close attention to what Yossi Vardi had to say.

It's a complete disaster for Facebook. Like New Coke. I have nearly stopped going because of the clutter. I believe it's true that Facebook is well on its way to becoming worthless...

Are you suggesting Facebook isn't worthless already?

Doesn't like timeline either. If FB gets this commercial, we all will know that Zuckerberg sold his soul to Mamon and then some. I can barely get to the bottom of the page with the old version; the new Timeline version jumps back to the top of the page in seconds....

My page has not converted to the timeline . . . fine with me. It's too cluttered and it looks too much like the cheesy MySpace pages.

Since the inception of timelines, I've noticed a decrease in usage by my friends. Facebook shot itself in the foot.

I agree. I visited a friend's page that implemented timeline. I haven't visited since. It's confusing to the eye.

Can we store our bank accounts and credit card information for security? Perhaps a social security number vault?

Get rid of it, because it sucks?

I wish that they would stop breaking things that haven't yet been fixed, is it too much to have a "Submit" or Post Comment" button. And hire some professional designers, Facebook looks like it was designed by a geek wearing a hoodie.

As long as I don't HAVE to use the timeline view, fine.

FB is the equivalent of my 6th grade Trapper Keeper... with doodles, stickers, happy empty thoughts and that's about it. With less than 25 friends, it's a good way to keep up with people in foreign countries. It's a good way to rub elbows with Charlie Rose, the Dalai Lama, and find out what's on tap at the brew pub down the street. It's enjoyable to annoy and irritate people with fun esoteric garbage.

It's amazing how serious some people take FB and how butt-hurt they try to be about it. The timeline thing is pretty interesting. And what does it matter? People are more full of poop managing their FB ego than they are their real life.

I HATE that timeline layout. If I'm forced to use it, I'm out.

For 'Lifestyle' read 'targeted advertising. Like Google does on your search page - or indeed HP is doing right now on the right of my screen.

I do not have FB and never will. Life is sweet without it.
