Golden Globes: Madonna vs. Elton

Tensions ran high at Sunday's Golden Globe Awards when music icons Madonna and Elton John clashed. The queen of pop won the Golden Globe for "Best Original Song" for her song "Masterpiece." Elton John told a reporter prior to the Globes that Madge had no chance of winning the award -- for which he also was nominated; after she won, his husband David Furnish vented on Facebook. Madonna, meanwhile, said she didn't feel bad and that John would win another award. Watch as HLN's A.J. Hammer discusses the feud.

How catty can Elton's hubby be? Just listen to him bash Madonna for winning and then bashed the GG as meaningless. I'm sure if Elton had won, his hubby would have sang a different tune. What a q.

(3/13/98) - It wouldn't be a new Madonna album without some controversy.

Fans of the singer are wondering whether there's a credibility "Gap" in the lyrics to one track on her new Ray Of Light album, which debuted on the charts at No. 2 this week with a solid 371,000 units sold (albeit trailing the perennial No. 1, the Titanic soundtrack).

The opening lyrics from Madonna's song "Sky Fits Heaven" are:
"Sky fits heaven so fly it
That's what the prophet said to me
Child fits mother so hold your baby tight
That's what my future could see"

In a 1993 Gap ad, set in a beatnik coffeehouse atmosphere, poet Max Blagg recited:
"Sky fits heaven so ride it
Child fits mother so hold your baby tight
Lips fit mouth, so kiss them"

The album notes say that "Sky Fits Heaven" was written by Madonna and her long-time collaborator, Patrick Leonard.

Basically what you have here is 2 very talented performers who are getting very OLD in a world where the demographic that matters is Teens - 30somthings.
2 aging "bitches" bantering over nonsense.

Dear Madonna & Elton... although you are both LEGENDARY-- be happy anyone knows or cares who you are anymore. Its a twilight/harrypotter world out there and you are granparents to consumers.

Tacky, Elton. Tacky. Madonna's song is much better anyway - Elton's is just more paint-by-numbers showtunes rubbish. But it doesn't even matter whose song one thinks is better (which is ultimately subjective), Elton once again shows he is a poor sport, anhd loked horrendous next to Madonna being rather graceful about him in return, despite what a cat he'd been. And hubby spitting venom on facebook and talking about Narcissism?! Pot calling the kettle black, much?!

I read a few posts stating Elton John is jealous-a comment Madonna fans like to arrange in their sequence of responses to overcompensate for lack of acceptance to insult. Not only do I not recall Elton John stating he's envious, some people don't like "Madonna" including him, for myriads of reasons-one I am certain as she is not gay & uses gay people through deciding herself a self proclaimed spokesperson for homosexuals when ultimately her purpose is to manipulate their preferences & insecurities for self gain, she often times more so than not is also using another artists work "re-invented" to resell in her image as obviously her own creation or lack there of is NOT something of "value". I find her portrayal of art & conversation to which as trite, vapid & deceptive. Adam Levine as a presenter was a set up. Regardless of this I think the banter from him (Elton John) and his partner (Furnish) towards the Madonna business model is boresome, immature and retread, so much so one can't help wonder if nots a p.r. stunt. I think Angelina Jolie looked stunning, she has such grace-& feel she is much more suitable spokesperson for Unicef as I doubt she is stupid enough to send her "friends" to spend charity money on luxury-as occurred recently in Malawi. She cares when on the contrary Madonna tries to make it look as she does, so people will buy her crap. People have a hard time believing "her".
