WASHINGTON -- "Occupy Congress" brought hundreds of protesters from around the country to Capitol Hill on Tuesday, to bring their grievances about a broken political system and economy directly to lawmakers.

There were teach-ins about corporate personhood and District of Columbia voting rights. The protesters handed out pink slips to congressional staffers. There were a handful of arrests, including one person who was charged with assault on a police officer.

Tuesday afternoon, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, chaired by Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), announced that it would be holding a hearing on why the Occupy tent city in McPherson Square has been allowed to remain in place since Oct. 1, despite federal regulations prohibiting camping.

But at least one member of Congress was on the protesters' side. Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), who previously came out in support of the Occupy D.C. hunger strikers' fast for D.C. voting rights tweeted in support of Occupy Congress:
