Mad Men Season 5 Poster (PHOTO)

To promote season five, the powers that be at "Mad Men" HQ have released a minimalist teaser poster of a silhouetted man mid-fall, printed with the season's premiere date (March 25) in what super fans will recognize as the show's characteristic font. To some, the main image is simply a screengrab from the show's graphic opening credits. To others, it's a tasteless reminder of 9/11. Either way, it's got people talking. Sounds about right for a show about an ad agency.

We must retire the numbers 9 and 11 from use. They are painful memories of a terror attack that was allowed to happen by a corrupt and porn addicted Government. No really, how many people at the Pentagon were actually looking at smut during the attacks?

This ad is obviously a vast government conspiracy to cancel Mad Men.

Obviously an homage to Saul Bass.

I have to say, as a huge Mad Men fan I have never correlated the intro credits and 9/11 until I read this. Yes, there are some parallels. But me, being sane, had it never cross my mind.

Spot on you are.

Jesus. Obviously this is a nod to the credits. The credits which depict a man in a suit falling after his office crumbles around him. A symbol, obviously, representative of Don Draper's world falling apart as he sinks further and further into the madness of anonymity. My guess is the poster is letting on that season five is going to see Don Draper's inevitable demise...in the late 1960's....decades before 9/11 would even be a remotely relevant issue to allude to... Again. JESUS.

A controversy full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

I think there are a lot of ways to see someone falling from a building other than 9/11. I've always wondered if it a foreshadowing of where the series is going... if we are watching Don Draper's "awakening."

Get. Over. It.

I've only heard news media claim people have complained. I haven't heard or read individuals commenting about it being "creepy," "insensitive," or "reminiscent of 9/11." I've been on various news sites reporting this story. And I use "reporting" loosely as no one I know or has commented claiming these things. News is crap these days.

Oh for god's sake. 9/11 doesn't have a monopoly on falling men. Get a life.

How does this in any way remind anyone of 9/11? am I missing something?

I don't agree that this should be seen as a reference to 9 11 but that's what some people are talking about.

Thanks - I didn't even make the connection. I appreciate the link though, to refresh my memory. (I still don't see it, though).

Have these "outraged" people seen the introduction to the show? It has the same falling man. Gasp!

Oh you have got to be kidding me!!!!! This is absolutely ridiculous!!!!! People just want to find anything and everything to complain about. Some people are just so stupid, it's from the opening in EVERY episode. Please go find an actual controversy to complain about and get some lives!!!!
