Perfume Genius, AKA Mike Hadreas, Releases Video For 'Hood' Starring Gay Porn Star Arpad Miklos
Last month we shared the track "All Waters" from Seattle singer-songwriter Perfume Genius's (aka Mike Hadreas) sophomore album, Put Your Back N 2 It, due out until February 21.
Today we've got the debut of the video for another track, "Hood."
The clip features gay porn star Arpad Miklos and was directed by Winson Case.
Hadreas told Pitchfork.com, "The song's about how if someone knew you 100%, they would go away... So, in the video, I didn't acknowledge [Miklos] until I was fully done-up in all my gear and my wig. That's how I feel in general. That freaky shit underneath -- that's kind of who I am, really."
Speaking about being gay and working to thrive in the music industry -- not always the easiest feat -- Hadreas says, "I'm very conscious about it, but I also want it to not be a big deal. But I still get nervous. With this video, my boyfriend was like, 'Are you sure you want to, you know, be so gay?' But I think people are smarter than that. And if Rick in Pittsburgh or whatever isn't going to listen to my music because I'm gay, fuck it."
