Did Steve Carell Appear On 'The Office' As A Member Of The Queerenstein Bears Team In 'Trivia'? (VIDEO)

UPDATE: A rep for "The Office" confirmed to Zap2it that the man in question was sadly not Steve Carell.

Steve Carell left "The Office" after its seventh season ... or did he? The Web is buzzing with speculation that the artist-formerly-known-as-Michael Scott may have made a brief cameo in the NBC comedy's most recent episode, "Trivia."

In the episode in question, which aired on Jan. 12, Andy masterminded a plan to have the Dunder Mifflin crew crash Oscar's trivia night in Philadelphia, hoping to use their cash winnings to meet the company's paper sales quota. In the clip above, a bearded man in a flannel shirt on the "Queerenstein Bears" trivia team looks, and sounds (while growling) suspiciously like Carell.

In a July interview on "Today," Carell told Matt Lauer that while he missed his friends on "The Office," he had no plans to return for a cameo.

NBC did not return a request for comment from The Huffington Post on whether it was in fact Carell, but The Washington Post says they got word it was not.

What do you think? Was the bearded trivia player Steve Carell? Let us know what you think in the comments.

It's him I think. He's the only one who looks directly at the camera for one thing and it sounds a wee like him. Why not - it's fun.

I think Ed Helms is doing an excellent job as the new boss. James Spader is also excellent as Robert California. Sure, I miss Steve Carrell but I still tune in every week. Shows are almost never able to put out a show of this caliber after the main star leaves. Honestly I think him leaving has given the show new life, in a way.

This is embarrassingly ridiculous. I see why none of your writers attached their name to this. D-chills.

You do know the right hand column is sports and entertainment... right? Oh, and it appears no one has attached their name to it.

I wouldn't mind if he returned. Ed Helms is doing terrible as regional manager.

There is no such thing as a fiscal conservative.

Yeah but James Spader as Robert California is hilarious.

Unrelated, but finally someone who echoes my view on the modern myth of fiscal conservatism.

Why be coy about the obvious?

Ugh. They just need to kill the show already. It died when they resolved the Jim & Pam plotline and it died again when Carell left.

Have some mercy NBC and let leave us fans with the memories of the good old days.

They should have killed his character like MASH did when McLean Stevenson left to pursue his sky rocketing career.
