Obama Campaign Picks Stefanie Brown To Lead Black Voter Outreach

The Obama campaign has hired a longtime NAACP operative to head its African American voter outreach going into the 2012 presidential election.

Stefanie Brown, the national field director for the NAACP, will join team Obama's Operation Vote in February. The program is geared toward outreach to key Democratic constituency groups, including African Americans, Latinos, Jews, the LGBTQ community, the young and the elderly.

"African-American voters were among the president's strongest supporters in 2008, and I am thrilled to help build that fervor again for 2012," Brown said in a statement. "The president is going to need our community more than ever this year, and I look forward to working together to win a victory on Nov. 6."

Brown, 31, a graduate of Howard University, was formerly named one of Essence.com's "Top 10 Emerging Political Leaders of 2012" and one of Ebony magazine's 2007 "Top 30 Young Leaders under the Age of 30." Under her leadership as the national field director in Baltimore, Md., the NAACP's national civic engagement campaigns registered more than 200,000 people to vote in the 2008 and 2010 election cycles, according to the Obama campaign. Brown also served as the national director of the NAACP Youth & College Division, representing 23,000 youth under the age of 25 around the country.

"Stefanie has been a leader within the NAACP family since she was 14 years old," said Derek Turner, an NAACP spokesman. "She has helped develop a generation of young leaders around the country. We wish her well in this exciting new challenge."

Turner called Brown "an exceptional organizer" who has been through several election cycles.

"Not only does she know what needs to be done," Turner said, "she knows how to get it done and motivates others to succeed as well."

Obama campaign manager Jim Messina lauded Brown's commitment to justice and equality.

"Stefanie has dedicated her life to empowering people of color to organize and advocate for justice and equality in their communities," Messina said in a statement. "She is a natural fit for a campaign who's fueled by its grassroots strength. Stefanie's youth, commitment and proven ability to mobilize and energize voters will be an invaluable asset to the campaign."

Don't give me that "dixiecrat" mess. The racists in the Party of "Jim Crow, Segregation, The Klan, and Slavery" DID NOT leave the Democratic Party and join the Party (Republican) that freed the slaves and that gave them citizenship, and the right to vote. A few racist Dems left in protest, when the Democratic Party FINALLY stopped beating and attacking us with police dogs -- but the great majority of racists stayed in their racist Democratic Party. And even when LBJ passed that Civil Rights legislation in the 60's (which he'd opposed when President Eisenhower was trying to pass it) he proclaimed after signing it that "I'll have them n-words voting Democratic for the next 200 years" -- does that sound as if he'd given up racism??

Understand something, liberals..the Democratic Party was racists at it's core, and they didn't leave and join the Republican Party (which was founded in opposition to slavery and had been helping blacks since it's inception).

Michigan really needs the democratic organization to be reheated and retooled. Instead of rebuilding the Wayne County and Metro Detroit Organization, Kilpatrick focused on his own needs. That's, maybe, six years lost because of poor leadership. Granholm was exhausted. That herd of conservative tom cats from the west side of the state played game after game. Still, she had major achievements that would have been improbable in a state like Illinois or Indiana or Pennsylvania.
If the Dems can register and get the 'Black Vote' (op cit, Huffpo) for Detroit, Lansing, Flint, GR, Muskegon, BH, Saginaw & Bay City, the state should remain safely blue. And for those who said he didn't do enough, man, look back at the last thirty years. SO much has gone to the 1 %. And they are not inclined to voluntarily return farthing #1!

It's funny how everybody still buys into the race issue.
Especially the election of BO should have shown all of us, regardless of color, how false this perception is.

It's not about race; it never was !! What it is about is the 1% ruling the 99% regardless of skin color.
The difference is that people bought for so long into this racial division story that Blacks themselves have often fulfilled that prophecy and aimed towards lower class than to uplift themselves. Todasy, no one in this country should live in poverty if this countries government would care enough about education, healthcare, etc., however people do because whatever administration is in power, the people in it belong to the Plutocrats who are the 1% and these people make sure that as few as possible will eat from their plates; black or white.

Although he has been presented evidence by Dads Rights groups that the child support system is biased against men and needs to be revised, he still wants to increase pressure to make men pay child support. THERE IS NO CHILD SUPPORT MONEY. HIs behavior will only increase fatherlessness. Obama is against our communities as much as the 1 percenters. His policies destroy our families. The 1 percenters take advantage of the broken and weakened families. NO black person in their right mind should vote for a man who hates us. Some black people think we profit by having a dark skinned man in office. Not if he works against us. Herman Cain would have been a better choice. Obama is more like Clarence Thomas.

Fathers should no more pay for two households than the mother, plain and simple. Unfortunately both females have slavemaster brainwashing and males have slave brainwashing. Any reponsible woman does not expect to get paid to take care of her own children and no responsible man expects to pay a child keeper and visit his own children. Obama hates his father, manhood and probably the human race. Why else would he support women and gays only? He will not get my vote again unless he shows respect for manhood, the black man specifically, and the real needs of the black child. Our children need their fathers more than the mothers need a little extra money. Anybody can want more money. The way to get more money for your household is to work for it, save more money or get a second income in your house. The welfare,( something for nothing attitude), has these dead brain moms being used like fools to trap men who volunteer to be trapped into slavery child support. You must not know what real parenting is about. Obama broke the color line but we would have been better off without that family degenerate.

Deceiving black people is not an honorable undertaking, and I hope Obama's so-called outreach to blacks fails to get them to the polls in the numbers they wish. The NAACP is nothing more than an extension of the Democratic Party -- they have little interest in truly helping blacks. In recent times the NAACP has shown more interest in supporting abortion and the homosexual agenda than it has in improving the lives of black people. This black man is not fooled by Obama, the NAACP or the Democratic Party.
